They were say f*cking plastic. All they talked about was money, their image, their vacation mansion and ratings while treating us as servants. They were gross.
I'm assuming you've seen the movie "Idiocracy"? - Marwood
I actually haven't my friend. I can certainly envision the type, but i'll watch the movie at some point if you think it's worth it. |

And on and on the wheels go, will the subjects always be complaint driven, does defeatism ever start to set in, need to take a play from Roger Nielsen book and raise the white towel...where the hell is serenity.

Man, there are some positives with this team. However, I'd say the events of draft weekend aren't among them. |

When even keeled posters like YeOldTimer are starting to get pissed with this team then I’d say it’s time to stop blaming the fans for being negative, most fanbase in our shoes would be upset.
If the Myers signing doesn’t go down(or anything similarly bad) then I expect some fans to calm down. I think that’s the dark cloud hanging over Vancouver right now |

Agreed, there are quite a few positives, the conditional 1st was disappointing but sh!t happens and hopefully that is the last of the head scratching moves by Jim. |

There must be something about Myers that Benning finds attractive, I don't follow the guy like the rest of you guys, but how does a real life GM (5years in) not have the same impressions on Myers like everyone else.
I really hope all this blows over, Myers is past on and he targets Barrie or is able to resign Schenn, or does something less controversial to fix that backend.
If Myers is signed I'll be taking a long hiatus from the blog, it will be better that way, more of an open forum. |

If they sign Myers and/or trade for Lucic then I will end up with a lengthy ban. |

That’s the thing though, “something Benning sees in Myers” isn’t a legitimate reason for people to get on board or calm down.
He’s been terrible at scouting pro dmen, that’s sadly a fact, not an opinion. |

I posted in the main thread the question of who is the head of pro scouting for the Canucks? I need more scapegoats. Legite ones. |

In the NHL, it's usually under the title "Director of Player Personnel"
Can't really find anyone under that label on the Canucks website so who knows. |

I'm not sure if you are up in arms with me or not, hard to understand tone in a message.
You can have your emotions, fly at it. I was questioning how a professional GM that has been a player and AGM and now GM sees something in Myers absolutely no one else (wanna be armchair hockey know it alls) does. I still think your stance is opinion, I liked Gudbranson several didn't, I didn't like Pouliot also several didn't, that's still opinion based not facts. I'm not a huge fan of Stecher, so if I say he's a poor defenseman that's not fact, if you say he is good or bad is not fact.
I'm not asking anyone to get on board with anything, go ahead and freak out, be pissed at Benning, Aquilini any one that makes you feel better.
I came to serenity to express my thoughts on the situation in the main blog, everyone is so ramped up on something that hasn't happened, it may happen and maybe it doesn't, I don't know, know one knows but lets all say the same derogatory statements for 45 pages. Should I be one of the boys and make a bunch of negative comments, because if I was to say anything positive in the main blog, you know how much flack I'll get.
I'll express my displeasure with the acquisition if and when it comes, otherwise I'm happy to post once a week or so. |

I think the issue is some are happy with the overall improvement and get upset when others question the moves being made. I think the team really had only one direction to go so it's a given that 6 years later they're in a better situation.
It's really just frustrating as a fan to see the same type of move all the time, then look at your farm system and see a lack of depth. |

I understand completely, and I do agree with the frustration, I was sitting there when Bettmen made the trade announcement and I called Benning a dumbass, and I'm still quite confused why he added the conditional pick, I didn't think it was necessary, but I'm one of these guys that doesn't have any inside knowledge.
I hope to hell he stays away from Myers, Lucic, Gardiner, pretty much any overpriced player. I'd rather have Hutton and Stecher back there.
Don't you ever get tired of reading the same comments, complaints over and over? |

Yeah somewhat, that's why I stir the pot I guess. I also don't have to moderate it and deal with the excessive drama. I can either add to it or log off. |

So if I say that LE has been a good signing so far, it's just an opinion that can't be refuted? Interesting way to look at things.
To me a player has preformed below average on the ice in the majority of the important facets of the game (creating offense, exiting their own zone, entering the opponents zone with the puck, winning board/puck battles, creating scoring chances, limiting opposition scoring chances, etc.) is simply not a good NHL player.
I understand that the eye test will always be subjective and merely an opinion, but it really doesn almost seem like common sense at this point to call Benning's overall pro scouting for dmen to be poor.
The list of names really does say it all.
Luca Sbisa
Adam Clendening
Matt Bartkowski
Andrey Pedan
Erik Gudbranson
Derrick Pouliot
Michael Del Zotto
Philip Larsen
Luke Schenn
You can pick a couple of players that you liked better than the crowd, but I don't believe any knowledgeable hockey fan who looks at this list and can tell me that they have faith in the management team that targeted these players. The real debate is if that list is a fireable offense. |

We're going to find out in a hurry. We didn't draft a single Dman this year because we "felt good" about what we had. I find it hard to believe that in later rounds they had forwards with much higher grades than Dmen. |

Another mind blowing comment from the Canucks General Manager. |
