Now I'm not saying it's true or not but some people believe that minivan is dumber than dogsh!t.
I'm not saying I agree with them or not but there are people out there that think that he should have a full-time aid worker. - RealityChecker

It's getting comedic the level of lunacy in this place. Now it's the "elites" who started this according to bettmanhates us to this doozy from minivan. I love the "we'll never know," as a justification to just repeating the weird/fringe rumours.
Hey bloats, since we'll never know, I'm gonna say that minivan started the virus by eating candy covered bats dipped in pig's blood fried in snake venom. I mean how can we be sure that it didn't start that way? He'll deny it but of course he'd deny it. That's just part of his plan. - RealityChecker

I think conspiracy theories develop because we can’t believe how stupid or incompetent our leaders actually are.
There’s a great article in The Atlantic that’s getting a lot of attention today. It’s a bit long but we’ll worth the read if you have the time and interest. A real eye opener. It’s all fact with little opinion and I think it perfectly captures the ineptitude of government leadership. Crazy poop...

Excellent article!
I will say that the collective WE who forms government aren't any better for the most part. I'd say half the people i know still think this is only an inconvenience.
I don't think we should become hysteric but exercising every precaution you can would seem to be the prudent course of action at this stage.
For instance, the kids have no school for the time being so my wife will be staying home with them. We've agreed that they won't go anywhere public such as stores, libraries, swimming pools etc. until we have more clarity on the situation. I'll run all of the errands until this subsides.

This is why I get frustrated when smart, successful Canadians like lefty and Don proclaim their love for the US. They love the sweet candy coating and not the rancid interior filling.
Canada is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but we do live in a great country and some take that for granted. Yes, I’m speaking to you Quebec and Alberta you whiny little female doges.
The fact that the virus has been on this continent for sometime now and it was ignored because of political benefit is beyond reprehensible. |

I liked it too and good on you for taking responsibility.
You need to come back to the main thread. I know it’s a poop show but more voices the better.

That's what we are doing. No kids but I'm staying in for the most part and my wife hits the big stores. I'll still go to the butcher and baker but staying away from small crowds. The benefit is that we moved into a new place last fall and I have a garden to design and build (well, our friends pre-teens are going to earn some extra pocket money moving soil) and an energetic Jack Russell to play with.
When this is all over, you folks should come by for a beer. |

I understand what they are saying though. I've often thought that we would have the same issues if our population was 10x larger. It's the same reason why I think Scandinavian are successful with their socialist democratic governments. A smaller population that values science and education above indoctrination/religion allows them to implement smart policies.
Where I disagree with Lefty and Don is the impression that I get that they think it's unfixable. The idea that *sigh* it is what it is.
Rather than picking teams politically and blindly sticking with them (and you get that impression from at least one of the two), the situation will only get worse.
But that's precisely the problem: thinking that "the problems are unfixable but at least I got mine" perpetuates the broken system. |

total detour:
since we're (well at least some of us) will be spending more time at home, let's throw out some tv/movie recommendations.
- the new season of narcos mexico was pretty good. it looks like they're setting up future seasons with el chapo being the "villain" so i'm looking forward to it.
- finished season 3 of berlin station which was is good. i'm not going to say great but it's a good tv show. if you haven't heard/seen it, i recommend it. it's a CIA/spy show. think homeland without the overacting/overdramatizing. seasons 1 and 3 are better than 2.
- and fleabag both seasons are fcking brilliant. if you haven't watched them, start with that if you want a comedy.
- looking forward to the new season of ozark out at the end of this month.
okay fcukfaces, you have to give at least 3 recommendations each. |

Thank you!!
We are looking for levity so "Fleabag" it is. The other recommendations sound very intriguing.
Haven't delved much into streaming but going to now. I'll come up with some in a day or two.
Will probably have to re-visit "Little Britain". |

I'll get back to you. I actually just started watching Shameless 10 seasons in or something. Frank Gallagher is one hell of a character.
I tried to watch Uncut Gems because i'd heard good things but fell asleep immediately. I was tired.
All of the Narcos seasons were quite good with the possible exception of the 2nd of Escobar. It just dragged on.
Spenser Confidential was predictable but entertaining enough to chew up 2 hours of what are going to be some long days ahead. |

i guarantee you will love it. absolutely guarantee it.
if you miserable kunts like sarcastic british humour (which fleabag has in spades) and want to combine it with politics, i'd absolutely highly recommend "the thick of it."
that's the british show that veep was based on. i've never watched veep so can't say if the quality is as good (or better but i doubt it.) |

This is great. Thx.
I haven’t given Ozark a chance. Wife watches it but I’m still recovering from Breaking Bad. Let me think and I’ll post a list...
My boys and I have got into video games on-line pretty heavily. We each have our own x-boxes so pretty much communicate exclusively through those. Amazing how on-line games eat up the hours.
Now summer around the corner looking to get outside more. My 12 year old is now into scuba diving so lots of diving trips planned this summer. So lucky to live in BC!
My 8 year old has become a basketball freak all of a sudden. Spent all this money on soccer lessons and now he’s totally disinterested.
I’m still pushing hockey on both but no luck getting them into it. |

i think it's a generational thing.
my nephew only plays/watches soccer and basketball. hockey is almost non-existent for him.

Yeah, tried uncut gems too but couldn’t get into it. I think it had something to do with the camera work. Too jerky like it was hand held. Felt like a long music video. |

I've been playing Fortnite since season 1, and I'm 47 years old. Amazing how fun and frustrating it can be at the same time. I rarely play solo, usually with a friend or 3. At least half the fun is in the chat party. I highly recommend video games as a form of stimulation vs TV/Internet.

Yup, I think it’s more stimulating than tv.
My youngest (I said 8 but he’s actually 9 lol) just got me into fortnite. Fun at first because I was low level and the bots are easy to kill. But levelled up quickly and now face more PvP and getting my ass handed to me. Can’t master building and realized that you have to master it if you want to survive more than 5 minutes.
By the time I figure out ramp or wall I’m already crawling for safety, begging my kids to heal my ass. |

Try builder pro settings if you haven't already. You'll be worse until you figure out the new control setup. Don't worry about those guys that build really high up, that's what explosives are for. |
