Here's a stat for how well this team is playing and has developed in the last year or so.
They have won a total of 24 games in their last 75 going back to December 14th 2016. do I see them getting better or making strides? no...no I don't. - landros 2
This is hyperbole.
You are cherry-picking stats.
Hextall said "they aren't playing poorly", that makes all other indicators false.

See, I'm not a risk taker. If I were you, once my investment doubled, I would remove my original investment and consider the rest house money. That way, the worse you can do is break even (adjust for inflation). - jmatchett383
I could remove the original at any point. I have a target sell price though for that. Once I reach my targeted sell price I make a comfortable profit and like you said leave the rest as house money to continue to progress. This is really a side thing for me though outside my portfolio. So any earnings are good earnings and I'm not relying on it for retirement. Basically what I'm saying is digital currency is my house money |

If we were playing poorly, I would be the first to say we were playing poorly. We are not playing poorly. To look objectively at our team right now, and say, ‘Are we playing poorly?’ No.

Yeah that comment was a bit of a headscratcher.
I think his goal was to protect the team a bit. He sees that in many of these losses the team actually had the lead multiple times and doesn't want to throw his kids under the bus. Nor the vets for that matter.
Many people in here tend to think the world revolves around them, that if Hakstol or Hexy didn't rip players and coach a new one publicly, it means it didn't happen in private. Because, we all know the world revolves around certain fans and if it they didn't see it personally, it didn't occur.
We all know what the GM says publicly reflects what he said behind closed doors. Or, at least some of us believe it does.
I know enough that I don't know what was said behind closed doors to the players, or Hak. So I don't go spouting off half cocked about what was said or not said, or I would just sound like a misinformed moron.

That's fine, but at the same time, I do believe that the paying customers, the fans, do deserve more than an "Everything is fine, no need to change anything," tag line. I don't expect him to come out an publicly start ripping people, but I do think that a little more of a dig at the team in general is warranted. |

Is this tongue in cheek?
If it isnt then he truly believes a team that is 6th worst in the league isnt playing poorly.
If it is then i should try to guess what he is saying?
There is no consistency in your logic here. Please help enlighten me.

If it is, then there was really no point in speaking to the media if he's just going to flat-out lie to them. |

It’s official, this confirms my suspicion that Hextall is trying tank this year for a good TDL and draft! |

I know his last year was derailed by a ridiculously dirty hit, but I was expecting a bit more of a bounce back season from Laberge. |

I get this point of view and kind of don't agree that was what he was saying. Its not really a point to argue since its a POV we don't share.
I felt like he was saying he knows there are some issues that need to be addressed but that he felt like the issues were addressable in the room by the players and staff. That he isn't going to panic and thinks there are positives in almost every game of the losing streak that can be built on. Last night notwithstanding.
He knows he has a young team (regardless of what people say) and that sometimes the carrot is better than the stick. He kind of hinted at that overall theme when asked about Morin when he basically said, we have one of the youngest defenses in the league and you want me to make them younger? To me that statement was the most telling thing he said, everything else was just generalities.

Reading through these posts today, I am trying to picture some of these people arguing like this is real life. Taking every statement out of context on purpose, hurling insults, just being plain nasty. Wreaking of hyperbole, and not even good hyperbole, the poopty kind that just reveals a severe lack of intelligence and decorum. Reminds me of some people I know in real life who are real POS's. They have no friends so they need to be jerkoffs on the internet.
tangentman and Jsaq had the right idea.....
- MBFlyerfan
Yeah they did. I know they both still log on to read Bill's stuff, but then they get the hell out. Tangentman was over the other night to watch a game, and he pretty much said that too many good posters have left and they've been replaced by way to many WIP type jackasses. I'm starting to feel the same way.

Of course it is tongue in cheek. You seem to believe that because he doesn't say it to reporters, he isn't saying it in private. This point of view baffles me.

Yes, but if my credit card is hacked, I call up my CC company, report it, then suspend the transactions, and give me a new one.
If your bitcoin gets hacked, I doubt there's a place you can call to get your $11,000 per back. - jmatchett383
You can always just invest in the bitcoin trust, which is much safer. Sadly though, the time to buy in was early this year.

I agree. I've found that staying out of here, especially while the game is going on, makes for a much more positive viewing experience.
I'll hang up and listen.

There's always positives from every game. Even if you get blown out 9-2, I'm sure you can find certain things that were good. That doesn't mean that you're playing well, or that there aren't a lot more good than bad stuff that you see.
If he came out and said, "We haven't played well as a whole recently, but I think there are enough positives to draw from that we can get this turned around with the group we have," then I'd have an easier time digesting it. But to say that we haven't played poorly/have played well, I can't believe that he honestly feels that way. |
