Tired team.....
Sad excuse.
They have laid in wait for tired teams and looked more tired then them.
That is on the coach.
No way professionals who get paid big $$$ can say they are tired.
Coach needs to get them in NHL shape! |

Of course it is tongue in cheek. You seem to believe that because he doesn't say it to reporters, he isn't saying it in private. This point of view baffles me. - MBFlyerfan
So, essentially, he lied to the reporters? He doesn't believe the team is playing well, but told the reporters the opposite?
Sorry if I'm misconstruing you or twisting your words, I'm not trying to. |

There's always positives from every game. Even if you get blown out 9-2, I'm sure you can find certain things that were good. That doesn't mean that you're playing well, or that there aren't a lot more good than bad stuff that you see.
If he came out and said, "We haven't played well as a whole recently, but I think there are enough positives to draw from that we can get this turned around with the group we have," then I'd have an easier time digesting it. But to say that we haven't played poorly/have played well, I can't believe that he honestly feels that way. - jmatchett383
I don't think he honestly believes that either. But I also don't think he wants the media to know that, and he would rather have the heat on himself rather than the coach and even more so his young team.
I think his mission was accomplished dont you? |

No, you need to go back to the Cote Suite and say 10 "Our Gretzkys" and 10 "Hail Gordies" before they let you back in. |

Why would you want to play with this mess of a team? Go back to the Czech Republic, visit with your family, and stay as far away from this dumpster fire as you can. Run. |

To an extent, yes. But I don't think it's right to tell people the opposite of what you truly believe when they're the ones financially supporting your organization. |

This. Im not sure why anyone think he would.
Hexy went out there to get the media heat off the team and focused on him IMO. No more, no less.

I could remove the original at any point. I have a target sell price though for that. Once I reach my targeted sell price I make a comfortable profit and like you said leave the rest as house money to continue to progress. This is really a side thing for me though outside my portfolio. So any earnings are good earnings and I'm not relying on it for retirement. Basically what I'm saying is digital currency is my house money - Tfaehner
Here's the part about cryptocurrency trading that I don't understand.* What is it supported by? If I invest in a company I understand that for the most part the stock price is supported by revenue, earnings, and cash flow (irrational exuberance aside). What supports bitcoin and the other cryptos?
* I don't trade in any hard currency either due to some fundamental gaps in my understanding there, too. |

I don't think he came across as incompetent at all. I don't think he was as forthcoming as he could have been, but I saw no sign of incompetence. |

I get this point of view and kind of don't agree that was what he was saying. Its not really a point to argue since its a POV we don't share.
I felt like he was saying he knows there are some issues that need to be addressed but that he felt like the issues were addressable in the room by the players and staff. That he isn't going to panic and thinks there are positives in almost every game of the losing streak that can be built on. Last night notwithstanding.
He knows he has a young team (regardless of what people say) and that sometimes the carrot is better than the stick. He kind of hinted at that overall theme when asked about Morin when he basically said, we have one of the youngest defenses in the league and you want me to make them younger? To me that statement was the most telling thing he said, everything else was just generalities. - MBFlyerfan

So why couldn't he have said something along the lines of, "We haven't been playing well enough to win, collectively. However, I've seen enough positives over this time that I believe that this group can get this turned around shortly."
Is that too much to ask? |

I think the fans told the players and coach what they thought. Hopefully the "fire Hakstol" chant has an effect on the players, because good hockey players can still win with poor coaching....as all the guys said, "it's on us, not the guy not on the ice". They really need to show Saturday that they want this guy as their coach going forward.

I believe he thinks they are playing better than their record indicated even stating that if they were .500 or close to it over that stretch it would make more sense. That statement told me what I needed to know about what he was really saying.
Hexy thinks they have been average and that a few breakdowns here and there are why they are winless in 9. It is what it is.
IMO he was trying to send a message to the team more so than the fans or the media.
The message was, IMO, we have been in all of these games, we have had leads and multiple goal leads in many of them. We need to clean up the undisciplined play, learn to play with a lead at the NHL level, and not get too down on ourselves personally or as a team.
Im sure the young kids appreciate hearing that.

he said this is a playoff quality team? is he lying? or is he not seeing what is obvious? He thought they are playing good hockey? is he lying or is he not seeing what we see? He is responsible for this team on the ice today. I guess I do see a competence issue, judging by what I watch night in and night out.

Honestly, that is what I got out of what he said. He just didn't say it that way for whatever reason. I have my own opinions on that as stated above.
