If we're looking at things short term, there isn't a trade or coach that can fix this. Continue to draft well. Develop well. The timing of these drafts and the production of guys like G, Jake, Coots by the time the prospects are decent enough will be the end all, be all of the franchise in a few years.
2 wins in a month is pathetic, but this is more of an on ice thing than anything IMO. |

Feel Hexy 's pain it's the little mistakes that are killing us, last game Sanheim was slow coming over to his side and although Elliot played well has to save that shot from there. Last night Sanheim backs in doesn't keep a good gap and again on the first goal Neuvirth doesn't come up with a big save. If Hexy trades anyone I'd trade Sanheim, while good offensively already have Ghost to run one power play and Provy the other one, got Myers coming up. Sanheim can skate but isn't physical would like to see Morin when he's ready, shop Sanheim for a solid winger that can score. |

Fair enough.
I think part of my problem is i am so fustrated with this teams play and the last thing i want to hear is "they aren't playing poorly."
To me, that made my blood boil. This team has been frustrating but that comment got to me like few others in a long time, in regard to this team.
I guess i just wanted to know Hextall feels my frustration, understands that this losing is taking it toll. - ggunky
While it didn't make my blood boil, it did make me scoot forward in my seat and say out loud, "what was that?"
Believe me, I understand your sentiment, I haven't seen an Orange and Black parade since 1975.
I think because I had moderate expectations for this season (8, 9, 10 seed), that probably tempers my reaction to a lot of what is going on this season. I actually went into it just excited to see the kids finally getting into the lineup and to see the improvement of Provorov. And with an expectation that the team would be playing better in the 2018 half of the season as the kids got their legs under them.
We are all rabid fans. And we can unite behind that commonality for sure. |

You know, when I was 22, my cousin and his mother lived with my grandmother. One night, my cousin decided to take a shower by candlelight...not with a girl, by himself. He was a weird dude. So, like the idiot he was, he doesn't blow the candle out. I get a call at 3 AM (living with my parents at the time) from him saying there's been a fire. He burned the whole house down. They moved in with me for 3 weeks (my parents were going to Jamaica the next day), then moved into a furnished apartment, and then moved back into their rebuilt house about 18 months later. We had to go through a lot of paperwork and other bullpoop (we didn't trust the others to do it right) and it all ended when my cousin, a 5'6 100 lb heroin addict, tried to fight my 5'10 180 lb lumberjack dad (he is a professional tree surgeon, not an amateur one). And I never saw my grandmother again.
I hope you're all happy. - jmatchett383

Agreed. And for the record i am not a hyperbole guy. Do i get emotional about this team, HELL YES! Probably way more then i should, But i dont spew garbage to get a reaction.
I thikn part of my frustration comes from the fact that i see the same mistakes game in game out and feel there is no accountability.
How many times over this losing streak have we seen a power play cut short by a dumb penalty on the Flyers?
Pucks over the glass.
D-men backing in over the blue line straight back to the goal line.
I want to see these simple mistakes corrected.
I am so tired of watching them play the third period trying to hold onto a lead versus trying to extend it. Or to play for OT with 5 minutes left versus trying to win the game in regulation.
LOL, this team has me frustrated.

Yup
As bad as this stretch is record wise, a couple bounces, a couple bad calls, and they could be 3-6 or 4-5 which again isn't great but it isn't bad. Which is exactly where we all expected them to be. A bubble team. Good enough to be almost a solid team but not. - Giroux_Is_God

I dont have any issue with what he said. Just don't see a huge "reliance" on young guys. They are there on the team, no doubt, but not really relied on - YuenglingJagr
Couturier(24yrs) 1st line C - PK and PP1 - 21 TOI
Patrick(19yrs) 2nd line C - PP2 - 12 TOI
Weal(25yrs) 2nd line LW - PP2 - Never played 25+ games a season - 13 TOI
Konecny(20yrs) is a 3rd line RW - 14 TOI
Laughton(23yrs) 4th line center with PK responsibilities - 12 TOI
Provorov(20yrs) #1D - PP2 - 29 TOI
Ghost(24yrs) #3 D - PP1 - 21 TOI
Hagg(22yrs) #4 D - 19 TOI
Sanheim is our #5 Dman (21yrs) - 16 TOI
This doesnt even account for Martel(23yrs) Leier(23yrs)and Morin(22yrs - 15 TOI) who have also been placed in the lineup
This is not considered relying on you young players? Our D core for the majority of the season has all be young players due to AMac's injury and Gudas Suspensions |

I'm pretty sure the answer is "no" but I'll ask anyway - can you get the NHL app on Amazon Fire TV (or the Fire stick)? |

What grinds my gears is more WHO is doing it. Voracek, Simmonds, etc.
I can live with kids making mistakes. But watching Simmonds and Voracek lately make dumb mistakes and costing us WINS imo......grrr
But in all seriousness, you can't scratch them. You can't scratch the 8th leading scorer in the league, that is just hurting the whole team.
But where I do disagree vehemently with Hak, is that after the bad penalties and the loafing while back checking, I WOULD staple Jake's ass to the bench for a few shifts or a period. Or demote him to the 4th line for a few shifts. A very PUBLIC way to shame him.
Sadly though, the coaches options are somewhat limited. |

I do disagree with a lot of the things Hak does, and to some extent some decisions by Hextall.
Fully onboard with them trying to take some heat off the players. I think that’s the right move considering the number of young kids.

As long as Giroux is leading the team it will never change. Paying Giroux & Vorachek 17 million for what? Neither are worth it. 9 game losing streak has either one scored a game changing goal or put the team on its back with a dominant performance to get a W, no. We are rebuilding with young guys time to ship both out. Sign John Taveras next year only 27, true superstar. You saw what he did against us last weeknight OT, when have you seen anything like that from our top guys? - Williamc5468
No just no. cant even take this seriously |

I got home from the game last night and turned on the TV and saw Hextall coming on and was thinking oh poop he came down from the Suite to rip the team a new ass. Then I listened to what he said and thought "damn man you just said the perfect thing" This team is not the team that has lost 9 in a row. They are more or less a 500 team that is in this funk due to a unreal amount of bad things happening at the same time.
1) lose either AMac or Gudas ... they probably float ok at 500
2) how many posts do they hit in the last 9 games
3) how many times has Jake done something braindead?
4) kids made a mistake at the wrong time.
each of those normally don't happen more than 1 game a month and they've pretty much had 2 or 3 of them happen each game.
take the 9 games away and they are a 500 team. They are a bubble team. They are who we thought they are. Put that crap happening together you get ugliness. Hexy probably was trying to take the pressure off as it does seem some players are now pressing to try and break the losing streak themselves which normally only breeds more mistakes which will lead to more loses.
Martel being waived probably means Leier is ready to come off IR. Again it's the numbers game. Morin got caught in it also.
Am I happy with the Flyers no I'm not but I'm also a realist and see the fact that this recent stretch is an anomaly. Hopefully the couple days and the events after last nights game allow for this team to come out Saturday and play more like they did before the streak. |

Didn’t watch the game so no idea.
At the end of the day, improvement will have to happen at some point or heads will roll. Probably with HC.
Not really excited about Gordon, Sutter or another noob in Knob. |

last night I think they felt the pressure and checked out which caused the post game actions.
Jake, Simmer and Ghost were a tire fire early in the game.
One thing I wonder is were 2 D hurt? It sure looked like they rolled 4 for the last 5-10 minutes |

I thought Leier and Weal were healthy scratches?
Either way the few games here Martel did not look out of place and brought a lot more then the likes of Weise/Filpulla/Lehtera. Still do not get why they cant keep him up here instead of one of them, it's not like their SIZE is contributing to wins. |

What about Jim Montgomery as a new head coach if it comes to needing one?
With Hextall, I know a GM can't over react etc etc, but where is that fire that man had when he played hockey? That determination to win and hate losing? Sure trust the process, but when the man talks he lulls most of us to sleep. |
