I do disagree with a lot of the things Hak does, and to some extent some decisions by Hextall.

Fully onboard with them trying to take some heat off the players. I think that’s the right move considering the number of young kids.

- flyer_nutter

They should start by getting some vets in here that can help.

That doesn't include Wiese, Lehtera, and a Simmonds who is (in my opinion) pretty hampered by injury.

Couturier(24yrs) 1st line C - PK and PP1 - 21 TOI
Patrick(19yrs) 2nd line C - PP2 - 12 TOI
Weal(25yrs) 2nd line LW - PP2 - Never played 25+ games a season - 13 TOI
Konecny(20yrs) is a 3rd line RW - 14 TOI
Laughton(23yrs) 4th line center with PK responsibilities - 12 TOI
Provorov(20yrs) #1D - PP2 - 29 TOI
Ghost(24yrs) #3 D - PP1 - 21 TOI
Hagg(22yrs) #4 D - 19 TOI
Sanheim is our #5 Dman (21yrs) - 16 TOI

This doesnt even account for Martel(23yrs) Leier(23yrs)and Morin(22yrs - 15 TOI) who have also been placed in the lineup

This is not considered relying on you young players? Our D core for the majority of the season has all be young players due to AMac's injury and Gudas Suspensions

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Young in age is different from young in experience. Prime age for most NHL players is 24-28 anyway, and there are plenty of players in their early 20's around the NHL. You have Coots and Provorov on that list...are you kidding me? Laughton has over 100 games of NHL experience. Hagg has 5 years of pro experience. Weal hasn't played many NHL games, but he isn't young.

Regardless, your ice time numbers don't show the situation the players are used in, which is what I am talking about

last night I think they felt the pressure and checked out which caused the post game actions.

Jake, Simmer and Ghost were a tire fire early in the game.

One thing I wonder is were 2 D hurt? It sure looked like they rolled 4 for the last 5-10 minutes

- dragonoffrost

With the choices that are made on the bench it's impossible to tell. Guys disappear for 10-20 minute stretches, sometimes half the game, and you have to wait and see.

I have to rely on the radio a lot during the week and the effort to locate guys and figure out their last shift is secondary only to the play by play.

What about Jim Montgomery as a new head coach if it comes to needing one?

With Hextall, I know a GM can't over react etc etc, but where is that fire that man had when he played hockey? That determination to win and hate losing? Sure trust the process, but when the man talks he lulls most of us to sleep.

That’s a big problem I think.

Some of the guys they are counting on to be vets and stabilize the club, are at the very best warm bodies.

The goaltending on the current club also doesn’t give them much cushion, something Schneider for example does for NJ.

One thing I would disagree with Hex on is basically not playing Morin because the D is too young already. I somewhat got that vibe from the comments.

I do wonder if there is a similar belief to the forward ranks.

As long as Giroux is leading the team it will never change. Paying Giroux & Vorachek 17 million for what? Neither are worth it. 9 game losing streak has either one scored a game changing goal or put the team on its back with a dominant performance to get a W, no. We are rebuilding with young guys time to ship both out. Sign John Taveras next year only 27, true superstar. You saw what he did against us last weeknight OT, when have you seen anything like that from our top guys?
- Williamc5468

oh bill, so glad you crawled out from under your rock, it must be killing you that Giroux has rebounded from a poor year. It gives credence to the assumption that he various injuries limited what he could do. Now, you have to fall back onto another ridiculous trope. End your pathetic life.

I think you over value Weal. The guy isn't that young, he's 25. He was so good that no other team wanted to claim him off waivers. Weal can sail off into the sunset with Weise for all I care. They have enough under producing small forwards.
- SimmerDown17

After 43 NHL games you definitely know they should let him sail off into the sunset.

True some guys have been replaced but they were a couple games under .500 both to finish last year after that date and are obviously the same this year. My point is they are a below average team and have been for a year +. I know the whole patience argument but this team is really stagnant and could use some help from their GM if he’s not to busy preparing for the draft next June.
- landros 2

The answer is that since Hextall took over there has been a turnover of players. That will continue. How many won't be here next season, or the season after? This idea that Hextall is doing nothing is absurd.

Feel Hexy 's pain it's the little mistakes that are killing us, last game Sanheim was slow coming over to his side and although Elliot played well has to save that shot from there. Last night Sanheim backs in doesn't keep a good gap and again on the first goal Neuvirth doesn't come up with a big save. If Hexy trades anyone I'd trade Sanheim, while good offensively already have Ghost to run one power play and Provy the other one, got Myers coming up. Sanheim can skate but isn't physical would like to see Morin when he's ready, shop Sanheim for a solid winger that can score.
- Skinner

Shopping Sanheim would be a colossal mistake. That kid is going to be a flat out stud defenseman in a few years time.

He plays that silly up-tempo, speedy, skill-oriented game, and likes to shoot the puck. He offers no veteran presence.
