I know people might not agree, but I really think Smith and E.Rod are the most ready prospects we have. These guys did not look out of place at the NHL level when they were given chances, and clearly they are excelling at the AHL level. - sskkoo1
I agree...I think we might have gotten lucky getting both of them.

I agree with Bap not having been given a fair shot, and I do think him and Bailey will be NHLers in the near future. But, as of right now, E.Rod and Smith seem to show less growing pains adapting to the NHL level. I think bring them in first can actually help others in Rochester make the transition. - sskkoo1
Idk that I’d be opposed to that
I’m assuming the reason Bailey & Baptiste have seemingly been ahead of E Rod & Smith is bc of their goal scoring down in Rochester has been better
Either way...
I think all 4 have earned icetime up here
For me, the issue is with asking them to produce up here when they’re playing on the 3rd & mostly 4th lines with guys like Moulson, Nolan, Josefson, etc...
Maybe I’m just making excuses for them
But I’d rather see 3 of them on a line together up here
Bailey/Smith-Rodrigues-Baptiste/Bailey
Even if they only get 4th line icetime,
at least they’re with talent & guys they’re familiar with |

you serious ? The Sabres chose to leave him in the ahl
Once again that incompetent GM ruined almost another prospect he should’ve let him stay overseas and develop properly verse higher competition
So now we have to wait three years for him to be ready because they didn’t develop him properly and put them in the right situation where he could be successful |

I agree with this point of view. This season is over, the 94pts we need to get to the playoffs is already well out of the realm. These games should all be about development of prospects while securing a high pick. It's time to sit in the press box all the bottom six crap we have on the roster and start rotating guys up here so they can become more acclimated to the rigors of the NHL. I like the idea of bring whole lines up from Rochester to play here together, but I fear it would decimate Rochester's winning and GMJB won't have that.

None of that is new news.
Rex got fired because he wouldn't bench Tyrod.
That was common knowledge. With the contract stipulation based on injuries and the guaranteed money he would have gotten if he got hurt I am not surprised any NFL owner would tell him coach to not play a QB they weren't sold on that had that type of verbiage in his contract.
It was ultimately a smart move because here we are Tyrod is still the QB but on a much cheaper contract. |

Yeah...
it’s an interesting debate about what the best way to develop someone is
Better to leave them all down in Rochester, playing significant roles on a winning team
Or
Bring them up so they can start to adapt to NHL competition
I can see merits to both |

Which is part of why I had a mini-meltdown last night.
Kane is still here with no contract. Moulson still here. Okposo and ROR have albatross contracts no matter how anyone tries to spin it, they are over-paid for what they do, especially Okposo. Our new GM traded Tyler Ennis and Marcus Foligno for Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella - A wash of a trade if I ever saw one.
My problem is this, I honestly want all the guys in Rochester to stay there for the year and try to get them into the playoffs. So instead of signing a few impact players in FA, we sign Puliot, one of the least impactful players of the last decade, Josefson, and idk who else even...
Maybe I'm banging this drum a little too hard, but the most impactful player we've acquired under Botterill has been Nolan, and that's saying a lot.
I don't have anymore patience to give, the time for evaluation is over, you have 1/4th of the season in the books, we're going to finish bottom-3 from the looks of it, and while trading for guys like Vatanen, Duclair, etc... doesn't help this team turn it around NOW, it pushes roster spots, creates more competition and raises the talent level of the team.
We need to face the music: Our only impact player right now is Jack ECHL and even he is developing into a lazy, entitled head-case.
Our coach has no clue how to coach at the NHL level and our GM may or may not have CTE. |

You’ve completely snapped
ROR & Okposo have terrible contracts...
but J Botts should’ve signed more UFAs who could “make an impact”
Yeah, bc that happens at a discount
And your love for Nolan is ridiculous
He has 2 goals
That’s “making an impact” to you?
He’s ok, but come on...
And a guy producing MORE in Pouliot is somehow less impactful?
SERIOUSLY...
you obviously hate just about everything to do with this team, from the owner to GM to the coach to the players to the fans
Why are u still a Sabres fan?
If you’re so hopeless with the situation that i make DISGUSTING remarks joking about suicide...
why don’t u just root for a team who doesn’t disgust you so much? |

Paul Hamilton prepping for a comeback? Heard he's on kale and gluten free diet.
Does Bott's take a chance? He'd come cheap and hell he was almost and Olympian.
I don't see how he could make the power play any worse?
