When you look at the d-core compared to say nashville or anaheim (commonly considered elite bluelines through eye test) they just can't defend and can't turn defence into offence. When you can't do that you put your forwards at a handicap and thats one our offence can't really afford.

Plus you need a goalie that will stop the puck. Lehner is certainly playing himself out of Buffalo and likely out of that coveted #1 goalie position he sees himself.

may have missed their window. goalless in 4 straight (potentially 5) could be the start of a cold streak
