Everyone in the organization through the fanbase is trying to figure out what the hell is so wrong with this team and how to begin fixing it, so I might as well add my two cents.

There are a lot of little things wrong, but the reason why I see this team never being able to win is, and has always been, Deadweight.

GMTM neglected the defense for far too long in drafting, and brought in the wrong players at bad contracts. That in of itself is this teams anchor.

gorges - 4
Girgs - 1.6
Okposo - 6 (He used to be able to play, maybe he will again, but not now)

21.7 Million in guys who cannot play at the NHL level. This is not including a bunch of others who can be added to this group like, Griffeth and Crisculio, Tennyson, etc...

Reinhart was a #2 overall and he nothing more than a mid-first rounder talent at best.

Girgs played in his 300 game yesterday, he done developing, he's crap, pure and simple.

Lehner is slow, too slow to be a #1, he cannot move from post to post and this is clearly why he's so bad at breakaways.

All of these things add to the exhaustion and the burning out of players on the roster who do have talent and who do care. How do you face the media again to hear the same questions over and over being asked, "What's wrong with this team and how do you fix it?" and yet, you can't say what's wrong is that 40% of this roster has no place in the NHL.

Forget all the leadership and effort talk. You need to come to grips with the realization that they're just not a good team. I posted something recently (one of my very infrequent posts) where I mentioned they maybe have 4, 5 good players. Changing that to 1, 2 now - and they're just "good", not great (Eichel, Kane being our good players). And oh my God does Lehner suck. Just shoot high on him, and it'll go in.

The team has been horribly built. Pegula needs to blow it all up and find competent people to put a good team together. Botterill isn't doing the job.

He also wants to bring in top end talent. Guess what, picking early gives you the best opportunity to bring in top end talent.

This is tmgm's mess, he's trying to clean up. Hard to do in 27 games and 4 months on the job

It's a fact of life, if you consistently try & lose, it's very difficult to start winning. It's Botts first season, what can he do in a very short time span? Everything needs to be changed from top to bottom to create a winning organisation. Just my opinion, & tell me to bugger off - no problem.
