I agree with regards to the outcome of that game. I was looking at in a broader overall sense. - MJL

#Flyers GM Ron Hextall is on the Western Canada trip, which MAY be critical for Dave Hakstol’s future.
Let’s hope boys, let’s hope. |

Because it's irrelevant. Only difference is the score is now 3-1. With the way they were playing you couldn't even sell me a "momentum swing " argument. - Pelle31Forever
It's not irrelevant if you're a fan of watching exciting hockey, first and foremost. If that call is the standard, and it seems like it is based on recent precedence, I would say it is bad for the game. |

Dont think Flyers problem are down to Hakstol except if it was him who recommended
Elliott,Weise and Lehtera
Also in my view they are already out of PP picture alone on the numbers in Metro

Absolutely. How many goals have been scored where there is minor contact with the goalie in the crease? Now all of those are going to be challenged and overturned, even if the contact had zero to do with the goal being scored? Not in the spirit of the game in my opinion. |

It is concerning how much officiating seems to be focused now on the letter of the rule instead of the intent of the rule. Disallowed goals is the tip of the iceberg. Offsides, pucks over the glass, stick infractions, illegal contact, etc. Referees are judges, and should be expected to make judgement calls based on the rules and the betterment of the game.
In the past, when referees were expected to make judgement calls when applying the rules, even when I disagreed with the call it more often than not added excitement to the game. Now it is boring and frustrating. |

I really think the NHL needs to look at some of these rules. The puck over the glass rule is meant to penalize a team for intentionally shooting the puck out of play to avoid pressure. So many times a player doesn't even have possession of the puck but just chips at it or swats at the puck in the air and it goes out of play. Or in the case where Raffl was trying to clear the puck down the ice by spinning around and firing it. If the puck sails over the glass outside of the defensive zone or in those other cases when the player doesn't have clear possession, it shouldn't be a penalty.

In regards to the call and the rule, I'm with you 100%. If that's goalie interference, I want to see that minimal contact called every time from now on. |

I understand the sentiment, but I don't want it to be called that way at all. Ever.

Unfortunately those refs opened that can of worms. We scream for consistency all the time. You can bet your bottom dollar a player's elbow will nip a goalie's glove over the course of this season. Will they make the call? We'll see. |

I hope it's one of those things that they never admit to changing but just don't call it that way anymore. Just like the toe in the crease rule in 1999. |

How much does anyone want to bet that there will be other challenged goals where the same kind of meaningless contact will be made with a goalie and the goal will be allowed to stand?

Is it even irregular for the GM to join the team on multi game road trips? |
