Ship everyone out and bring back scrubs and picks to tank... What a brilliant, original idea. I sure hope all of you are talking out your arse and not from a position of direct knowledge because that is a horrible plan.
It's hockeybuzz so I'm sure its straight through your arse holes. - staples
Well the last time it worked brilliantly except the guy in charge was bad.
He ruined it by trading everything away for Kane and ROR. |

So are witnessing the TANKING 2? - rapperray
When you lose 10 of the last 11 games with Lehner, how does moving him become considered tanking? But, yeah, we're tanking. |

he is not taking on any long term contracts - homiedclown
If during the First Tank™, Tim Murray had been smart, and not given or acquired any longer than a 3 year deal, the Sabres wouldn't be in this spot. The Meszaros signing turned out to be his best one. Why? Because his money was off the books after the year was over. |

We are the worst team in Hockey and an embarrassment. I don't think it worked at all. Doing it again does not sound reasonable at all. If we cant draft and develop talent what is the point of getting more draft picks?

Wildly inconsistent, this year. He's posted above .920 save percentages the previous two seasons. He's not a bad goalie. - RhinoFan

he really like RNH so you never know
I think his short term goal is to free up some cap so he can extend kane
if bogo, moulson, ror, and okposo are on this roster after the draft, zero chance Kane is extended/offered contract july 1st - homiedclown
Hope he is good at debate.
It's going to take a lot to convince Pegula to extend him. They still don't want him here |

don't be surprised if Mccabe is shipped out as well - homiedclown
I’ve been thinking that
I like McCabe,
but we have Guhle coming on the left and ideally want to bump Scandella down to the 2nd pair
Kinda leave McCabe & Beaulieu as odd men out unless they can switch to the right side |

they already have antipin playing right side instead of natural lefty
again it all depends on the return, mccabe is not in any way shape or form the one that has to go on D, but for the right return he will be part of the package |

Makes sense
Especially if we find a defenseman to play with Risto on the top pair |

8th overall in GSAA from last season per Hockey Reference. Is that a better stat?
Not saying he's amazing, but we could have Hasek back in his prime and we'd still be getting housed. I think people have been quick to jump on him due to the price paid to acquire...which he had nothing to do with. |

if we had hasek in his prime, we would be fighting for 8th in the east instead of dead last

I was about to say, that is a stretch statement. Dom in his prime was a better combination of Price, Lundqvist and Quick all wrapped up in one in terms of modern day goalies. |

I would argue that a lot of that has to do with our sheer lack of defense. He's had some bad games. Not even saying I'm against trading him. But he doesn't suck and given a solid defense, he can probably put up good numbers. |

He was my favorite player and the reason I became a goaltender. Still, we can't score. Dom was great, but if the team is going multiple games without scoring...even Hasek wouldn't help IMO. Hasek played on some bad teams, so I get it, but we are historically bad and have been ever since he's been here. |

Never said he “sucks”
But I am done with him
Defense aside, bc that obviously can make any goalie look better or worse
Lehner is a head case. When he lets in a bad goal, or his defense let’s him down, it really seems to affect him & then another goal or 2 goes in.
His rebound control still needs work to say the least.
And idk if it’s bc he’s so big, but his body control is among the worst I’ve ever seen in a goalie. He constantly overplays the puck & cant get back, or loses balance & ends up on his stomach when a goal is being scored.
He’s big, so when he’s in position the puck hits him. That’s why he has posted decent save % at times. But he’s also not very agile, athletic, or quick...
and that’s very evident in shootouts, just to show an obvious example of my point
No, he’s not terrible
But he needs a Nashville or Anaheim defense in order to take a team to playoff wins imo
Time to move on |

He has issues. The breakaways are infuriating and usually I say if there's a breakaway, it was someone else's fault before the goaltender's. At the same point, I don't see him being here long term, yet I would wager once he leaves if he went to a playoff team he would put up starting caliber numbers. He has put up decent numbers on tire fire teams, as you said in different words, the better team, the better the numbers.
You may be right about moving on, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a lot more success on the team he goes to if they're a playoff caliber squad. |
