Moulson Agent actively seeking options for him with Botterill.

Assuming to find a trade partner.

- ImThatGuy

Wouldn't that be nice if it happened

Let's use the scenario given:

A goalie who lets in 3 on 20 vs a goalie who lets in 3 on 35.

.850% vs .920%

Did the goalie who had a .920 have a better game? Not necessarily, he may have let in 2 poopty goals.

Did the goalie who had the .850% play like crap? Not necessarily. 2 of the three could have been horrible defensive lapses by his team or odd man rushes

- lulags

i think the point is that over thousands of shots the games crazily on one side of the shot quality spectrum cancel eachother out

crazy, right?

He would carry this team but they still wouldn't make the playoffs, that isn't the debate

Hasek would and could carry this team in his prime all day everyday.

BUT this team wouldn't be a .500 team with him, this is statistically the lowest scoring team in Sabres history

- Stripes77

I agree this team with Hasek still is not a playoff team. This team with Jesus in goal is still not a playoff team.

I use Brodeur in his prime. The Devils would only give up 18-20 shots per game so brodeur did not have the best save % in the league but his GAA was stellar.

Using GAA for goaltenders I would say is the worst metric possible. If it were a good show of talent, Aaron Dell, Stolarz, Howard and Budaj wouldn't be in the top 7 with over 20 games played.

Also, from last year: Fred Anderson 2.67 Robin Lehner 2.68 Henrik Lund 2.74

What is the need for you guys to try to speed past us with a minivan or SUV some poopty ass car when you know we have a faster car

Is it pride thing ?

- gerbe75pts

Probably has more to do with the fact you're driving like a moron. Plus, don't sleep on minivans they're way faster than you think they are.

I'm pretty sure Tim Murray said "(frank) you" to Moulson a long time ago. I remember him talking about not being in game shape.

That said, his #1 justification for signing him was "he wanted to be here". So yeah, (frank) him.

When did I say that? I said a good save % is over rated. And it depends on the quality of shots
- lulags

U said goals against is the best measure
So I pointed out a scenario to show that’s ridiculous

Do you know or does anyone, if he retires are we on the hook for any cap? Or does that nix the entirety of it.

Not necessarily...
But more likely

Anyway, this point doesn’t show how gaa is a superior measure
It just shows that save% potentially isn’t always the best measure

Except Lou has been pretty good during his tenure with the Leafs not overpaying the players. This will be admittedly harder with brutal GM's handing out contracts like Eichel's. He's not worth it.

Prior to McDavid and Eichel's bloated contracts I would have bet Matthews could have been signed for under $10 mln. Now with Jack as a comparable signed for $10 mln, a lesser player than Matthews, that task becomes much more difficult. That said, Matthews seems much less self-centered, and playing in Toronto he will have many lucrative endorsement deals on the table (relative to playing in Buffalo and doing commercials for Lockport Gambino Ford), so maybe he takes a bit of a discount.

I think the leafs could use those bloated contracts, and the fact that both teams are looking like they'll miss the playoffs to get them to take a bit less. The Sabres have 60 million already committed to 13 players next season. No goalie signed, no Evander Kane, does not include Sam Reinharts increase, and the Oilers are not looking any better.

Yes it is wishful thinking that the 3 kids take less, but at the same time I have 100% faith in the current leafs management to either get them signed to reasonable contracts, or find another solution that will also workout.

Expect Marner/Matthews/Nylander all to take discount deals.

Round and round we go.

That went to their heads, fast. I read(red) their thread yesterday. Wow.

I dont beleive so, because it was not a 35+ contract, but don't quote me on that.

Edit - Not sure if there would be any cap recapture penalty either??

if we had hasek in his prime, we would be fighting for 8th in the east instead of dead last

dom in his prime was that good

- homiedclown

No one is that good. Those Sabres teams could at least score 2 goals a night. You can't win when you score 9 goals in 9 of the last 11 games.
