He can be a 3rd line guy and he can score 15 or so but playing 8 minutes a night isn't going to help him
- SABRES 89

I don't think he ever touches 10 goals again.

did he say the kid would be playing center?

pretty sure he is playing rw right now in college

- homiedclown

I got that impression
They didn’t mention the wing at all
Baker said something like, “if Hischier can jump in & play top line center & PP2 as an 18/19 year old, then Mittelstadt should be ok for the 3rd line next year”

Also talked about how he’s worked hard away from the puck & defensively

So from all that,
I’d say yes at Center
But try to give him as many offensive zone starts as possible to ease him into the NHL

"The Sabres do not have salary cap problems, but they will receive a little relief with the move. If Moulson clears waivers, he will still count $3.975 million toward the Sabres' cap. They will get $1.025 million worth of relief from his $5 million cap hit."

3rd line is too young for me
And I don’t like Pouliot at all in the top6
I don’t really get the love for him?
He’s ok, not “good”
I’d rather see a kid with higher upside get a shot
Bailey, Baptiste, Smith...

Mittelstadt at RW is interesting
Especially if we eventually project him as Jack’s future RW

Asplund should at least start in AHL unless he just tears it up in camp
Let him adjust to the N.American game a bit

Yeah, but whoever we keep up here will cost between 650k & 950k, so we really don’t save anything more than a couple hundred thousand at most

All reports I’ve seen are that Moulson has been extremely classy about everything the past season or so

That doesn’t mean anything
Lots of guys stay “listed” at Center even after they are moved to the wing
Especially when they’re still prospects

Wow. I've been of the opinion the Matt just got too comfortable with that last contract and at this stage of his life he was just mailing it in. This move seems to confirm that because those #'s tell me that they just want him as far away from this franchise as possible.

I hope that's how it goes, however, we have to see Nylander start scoring first. I would hope this guy would be toying with AHL talent level players, but because of injury we haven't seen that yet.

I want to see him develop as opposed to come up to the big club solely because he's a high draft pick.

- gcomella34

True
I completely agree

whenever i see jdfitz post theres a 90% chance there will be a next year line combination in it
- robz228

Looking to the future...
“There’s always next year!”

In seriousness,
I think roster makeup & how lines are put together have a big effect on success/failure

Imo...
the biggest reason the Sabres are struggling STILL is bc we have guys playing ABOVE their talent levels instead of in their appropriate roles

???
Because they’re both Swedish?
It’s not like they spent significant time playing with each other...
have they?

They were on the same line at the WJ's last year.

Hot take- Asplund will be the better player
