Wrong - washedup20
So u think Tennyson > Guhle?
Criscuolo > Bailey, Rodrigues?
Griffith > Cj Smith, Fasching, Nylander, etc?
Come on man
J Botts could’ve put more talent up here to help us out & everyone knows it |

Can you imagine this team if we had two more top 4 dmen that could drive possession, and the top 6 forwards played to their abilities, and the bottom 6 scored 25-30% of our goals? We'd be the Lightning. - TheSabresTaco
True
I’m not trying to argue that at all
And getting OEL would be great
I just think the proposed trade of Sam + ROR would leave us incredibly thin up front, especially if we lose Kane like most are assuming |

Agree...
but I’m not scapegoating legit players
I’m not trying to give these guys “a pass” as Homie says
But also,
Selling them for “.50-.80 on the dollar” is quite the reactionary decision when it seems J Botts put this team on the ice to “stealth “tank” - jdfitz77
Depends who it is.
If we're talking oreilly. I think, as far as assets go, you'll have to take a haircut with ROR cause very few teams can take that salary/cap hit. But his reputation basically guarantees you'll get good value for him at any year really. Not unlike Duchene despite a horrid 16-17 season.

and the year after if the lockout happens - homiedclown
And that might actually be the best thing for us...
I can’t deny that it’s a line of thought worth exploring at the very least
But it also means that OEL & Kane would be 30 by the time we are ready to compete for the playoffs again
And that’s IF (and a very big IF) the young talent we draft can significantly contribute right away
If what we are trying to do is another rebuild, the idk if moves like OEL & Kane are the best idea
That’s basically the same thing as ROR, Okposo & Kane this time |

If Sam and ROR are dealt for OEL, I would expect Kane to be re-signed.
However they will need to find a 2C for the next season, I don't think Mittelstat to be that guy right away |

I think he wanted to help the organization more than impatient fans. If thats what keeping them in the AHL and getting a high draft pick does for us I can stomach it |

yea i mean this all stemmed from me saying I didnt get a great vibe from the interview (which I still dont). Didnt really expect it to get to this point. BUT since we are on the topic...I think it makes me worried anytime a draft pick wants to spend all 4 years in college. We will see but it kinda sounds like hes staying. - MCGUIZZY
That’s fair
I didn’t back read,
so I had no context for what u were saying
If he goes back for his Senior season NEXT year, then I think we should worry
Hopefully we just sign him this offseason though |

He hasn't had a great year. But if this is true, it feels like a snowball started rolling downhill and he's going to get run over.
It's not like Jack has had a great year either. And many others. If anything, maybe this can be explained as Botterill deciding somebody has to go, and ROR is the first guy that smart teams are willing to pick up from the heap. |

Im not sure we should be getting too excited. Deals of this magnitude take time and more often than not fall apart. |

Yea I agree. Call it what you will but Botteril clearly wanted to focus on winning in Rochester first. That was his gameplan. You need to develope a winning culture at that level and create competition for roster spots on the big club. Im 100% behind this plan. |

Ok, u make a good point
If we get a good return for O’Reilly or Kane or Sam or whoever...
then fine
That would make sense
But I don’t wanna “sell low”
That’s almost always a bad idea
Just getting back a bunch of parts doesn’t help us
We’d need to get back a “core” player |

This sort of lends credence to the idea that the room is split with jack and ror on either side |

It depends on the parts too. If its a bunch of good picks and prospects, gives you surplus to move other picks and prospects for a core player that they may feel is a better fit long term. |

Saving himself would have required palm strength - the kind most people would go blind developing. |

nothing specific, just that change is coming...when the little (jail) bird is done serving his time, i'm sure he'll offer this thread more...
however, that's two people who've mentioned ror...i'm inclined to believe that buffalo39 came on here, he'd probably tell us he's hearing the same thing |

That's a dangerous assumption based on a heavy amount of conjecture.
There's zero evidence that there are sides. And if you're trading ror, it's certainly not because those two don't see eye to eye. |

Losing Kane and O'Reilly this year would be horrible. I get that we're bad now, but there's no argument that makes sense that we'll be better without them. We are barreling toward a 10 year rebuild. God help us |
