Yea I agree. Call it what you will but Botteril clearly wanted to focus on winning in Rochester first. That was his gameplan. You need to develope a winning culture at that level and create competition for roster spots on the big club. Im 100% behind this plan. - MCGUIZZY
I was 50/50 but it worked for him so I'll buy in |

nothing specific, just that change is coming...when the little (jail) bird is done serving his time, i'm sure he'll offer this thread more...
however, that's two people who've mentioned ror...i'm inclined to believe that buffalo39 came on here, he'd probably tell us he's hearing the same thing - Michael Pachla
I forgot how fantastic chiquorin has been for this franchise. |

Position wise it doesn't make sense but current production and salary wise it does, as does his potential return. Just that if he gets dealt center skill wise looks meek. |

Im not sure we should be getting too excited. Deals of this magnitude take time and more often than not fall apart. - Sabresfan-365

That's a dangerous assumption based on a heavy amount of conjecture.
There's zero evidence that there are sides. And if you're trading ror, it's certainly not because those two don't see eye to eye. - TheSabresTaco
Maybe I just like ROR more than most but I literally don't see any other explanation for wanting to move him right now. (key word being now) |

Losing Kane and O'Reilly this year would be horrible. I get that we're bad now, but there's no argument that makes sense that we'll be better without them. We are barreling toward a 10 year rebuild. God help us - jcragcrumple
Sure but you arent "losing" them for nothing. |

I don't see an argument other than salary. He s a nice second line center. We will be terrible for years without him. If they want to clear cap, use assets to move Moulson, Bogo and Okposo and let Gorges walk. Boom I just cleared 20 million dollars |

It's a rumor I haven't seen anywhere except here. Sure it's possible he's moved, but if you're trading him, you better be getting a boat load back. I mean, that's a big league statement and would be a seismic shift to that room. He still has high value, teams aren't stupid. We'll see I guess. |

botts is a capologist and these contracts have got to be eating away at him, especially with the (non) results he's seen thus far...he won't be able to put a real stamp on the sabres while carrying those big-ass salaries |

I think he wanted to help the organization more than impatient fans. If thats what keeping them in the AHL and getting a high draft pick does for us I can stomach it - Sabresfan-365
I’m not discounting that
I actually agree with it
A lot of ppl were expecting Guhle to be in the top4 this season & I was saying he should at least start in Rochester
Similarly,
I’ve said I think Mittelstadt will likely play in Rochester as well
But, while I agree that’s a good way to go...
if the Leafs & Devils did that then they’d have missed the playoffs
So both ways can work
Just don’t punish the LEGIT players that are here playing on a team that was put together to “get a high pick this year”

Hanifin leads all NHL defensemen in even strength points per 60.

The explanation may be due to something behind closed doors. Maybe he wants out. I always got the feeling he wanted to be captain here. Maybe a power struggle?
Who knows but if hes moved im assuming we bring back a guy that fits the uptempo style a little more. |

Reinhart and a pick for Faulk - Sabresfan-365
Probably pass. Not sure the pick moves the needle much at this point. |

Yeah he just played on a line with Malkin and Kessel last year and did well to compliment them. |

Even then, the obvious candidates are your dead weight guys. The ones where you don't care what comes back as long as all the salary leaves. Not really the case here.
It may not be a split locker room but I think it's about more than just on ice factors if that makes sense. |

This team is terrible on D. I guess I like Bogo a bit more than most and don't put him in the same category as Moulson, Georges or right now Okposo due to position and skills. |

I'm not saying it's easy, but it's doable. I just don't get the salary cap argument at all, anyway. It's not like they're going to run out of room next year. |
