I totally agree that they have every right to gloat, they have done a very solid job of rebuilding and are set up for a long bright future, I can only hope that the Sabres get their poop together and do the same, the problem I have with T.O fans is how easily they forget about there FA signing and over paying players over the years. David Clarkson, Jeff Finger, Hell they even gave Tim Connolly a 2 year 9 million dollar contract, But the Sabres are now stupid for doing it.

Not sure how or why the Clarkson, Finger and Connolly signings are relevant in 2017. The GM's responsible for those deals are long gone and the contracts are off the books.
Leaf fans know all about terrible management, bad drafting, poor development and flawed plans. But that was then and this is now. It is sad to watch the Sabres follow the same path

I just love how T.O fans have come out in groves the last few years, talking crap. Fact is, your team did the same thing the Sabres did, only difference when you tanked it worked, you got Matthews we did not get McDavid. ECHL is going to be a very good player in this league for a long time. take over player, prob not, but very good. He needs to grow up a bit and lead, that comes with time..

Sabres fans swore up and down that Eichel was Matthews' equal though, so that can't be the only difference. The truth is, the Leafs have done well with a lot of their draft picks over the past few years and the Sabres haven't. It goes a lot deeper than just one team getting the first overall pick and the other team barely missing it.

Again, The Leafs have done an excellent job rebuilding the team the right way.. I get PO'd when the Leafs fans get all over Eichel.. he is barley 21 years old and has played for an extremely poor team and has for 3 years. I would bet my life that if Matthews played for the Sabres he would not have nearly the success as he has had with the leafs and reversely if Eichel was playing with the strong talent in T.O I bet he would be a 40 goal guy easily.

I said he will be like Phil Kessel was in toronto. Is Phil Kessel a bad player? No, he is a very good to excellent player. But No one was going to build a successful team around a 8 million Phil Kessel, (probably equivalent to $10 million today), as 2nd or 3rd option at 6 million I'd take him. You will have to build around a $10 million Jack Eichel, I believe you will have the same experience that the leafs had with Kessel.
