yes he is and a top 4 guy to move pulock or pelech down would be nice too. aho and toews score but hows their defensive game? havent seen alot on that other than last year toews played in all situations

Not sure, honestly.

Don't forget Aho played four years of professional hockey in the top Swedish league before coming over here. Obviously a bigger rink and a different game, but he's no stranger to the speed of a pro game.

I would imagine Toews could be (will be?) somewhat similar to Leddy. He may not be the most skilled defender, but I bet his speed will make up for some deficiencies he may have.

Horvat having an MRI today to determine how long he's going to be out after suffering an injury recently.

If VAN falls down the standings, Gudbranson is a RHD that I would consider looking into as a trade-deadline rental for the third pairing. He's no star, but I recall him having a decent series against the Islanders two years ago.

Isles really need another top 4 for this year and beyond 7. If de Haan leave hopefully Toews or Aho can be paired with any top 4 the Isles acquire.

I don't necessarily believe Gudbranson is the type of player that would fix our issues, but I do think he's an upgrade over everyone not named Leddy, Boychuk, or de Haan. Pulock's close, but Gudbranson would get the edge because of experience.

I still would prefer to see them go big and go after Ekman-Larsson, if Chayka makes him available.

well and this is just my thought, but if the arena is announced I think he signs after season. just reading weights thoughts in si article and hearing the players thoughts it seems like he wants to stay. if he wants to see the future of this team and its direction then barzal, ho sang, ladd, eberle, and his line have to be a big plus. if this team added oel that would really make them a contender and would get him to stay. signing a better goalie wouldnt hurt either
