It's 160 games for players who signed at ages 18-20. It goes down from there to varying degrees, but that's not something we'll probably ever have to concern ourselves with.

Lehner has been below average this year in terms of 5 on 5 Sv%.

He was above average last year under Bylsma.

He's a goalie who is a product of his team. Which is like half the goalies in the league.

All but the very best of the very best can "move the needle". McDavid is still great, but his team sucks. And we're talking about a middle of the pack goalie as if he's supposed to be Patrick Roy. That's my problem.

good point .Seems both Mcdavid and Jack are becoming victims of their teams.

The issue is they are missing a #2 up front, and #1 on the back end.

Which are two incredibly tough holes to fill.

I have no doubt adding guys like E-Rod, Bailey, Nylander etc down the road will provide better depth, but getting the difference makers is the tough part

I don't use that as an indictment on him. I use it as an indictment on aqcuiring him for the price we paid.

What I use as an indictment on him is his unbelievable run of not stopping shootout/penalty shots.

Edit - Also, When I say "move the needle" I don't mean he needs to single handedly win games, I mean his performance is dictated by others. McDavid is the caliber player who dictates his performance. He also contributes to his team winning a lot of the times they do.

Lehner's numbers flow with how the team plays or the style we play.
