The possibility of something happening isn't proof that it is happening. The lack of credibility of one party doesn't bolster the credibility of what another is saying. This isn't a zero-sum game.

The idea of a round Earth existed LONG before "the government". So it's kind of hard to say the gov't is foisting a myth upon people that was proven prior to its existence.

I'm looking at the USA World Junior Prelim roster, particularly their hometowns. There are a lot of expected Michigans, Minnesota, a couple New England states, but only one guy from NY State, and quite a few from St. Louis, MO and a couple from Florida.

I know this team has had some Buffalo/WNY natives in the past, but have wondered if the youth hockey program in this area and perhaps NY State overall is overhyped. That was the number 1 justification for the University at Buffalo getting a hockey team. The results seem to indicate otherwise.
