Well Duchene got traded already so it definitely isn't happening. Based on the way he is playing in Ottawa I guess you can say we won the trade even though we weren't involved in it.

Another angle to look at this is to determine what scoring blue liner they are actually going after.

Usually the Ek info is a smoke screen.

To me, this is an over value of Tyson Barrie. He is a second pairing, offensive zone start, power play specialist. He doesn't do the actual defensive part of his job well. To be honest I have never thought he was that good. I am completely aware that defensemen are valued higher than they used to be but if it costs Rhinehart that is too much in my opinion.

McCabe and a pick would be my offer. If they don't take it then wait for Guhle.

FYI no contract required for this upgrade but they do charge 150.00 because they have to change out the Box Fios that comes into the house., as well as there crappy router.

I suspect that we are going to see some trades come down with the Sabres that we love and others we think we paid to much (Not GMTM too much mind you) and I'm okay with that, this team needs some people moved out, there are too many coasters on this roster.

But, in reality, Seattle would be 2 seasons from dropping the puck and I think-hope- we would be in a much better position with young talent by then, thus, we'd be losing someone we don't want to lose.

You wind up in a moulson like situation. you'll probably have to overpay by even more because now he's getting offers from other teams.

If they aren't comfortable with whatever number hes given them now I cant imagine that will get any better on July 1.

Agreed on what Sakic would want, but we'd need to pass. First, we need to stop overpaying for players, we did it for Kane and RoR and it left us depleted. Also, what good will Barrie do on a failed season? It's not like he's going to come here for Kane+ and turn this boat around. We need to sell for prospects and picks and do a proper rebuild, not a retooling. Murray rushed the rebuild and he caused it to fail.

Smart teams realize this.
The overpayments for FA are a sure fire way to handicap your team financially for quite some time as the contracts are usually of the 7 year variety. Couple that with the typical age of these guys and boom, teams usually regret the move 2 - 3 years down the road.

I'm sure everyone saw Ek's post about the Sabres and Tyson Barrie. It would be a nice grab. Ek claims the Sabres were in negotiations with the Avs for a Barrie/ Duchesne package. Thank Fork we did not make that deal.
