I know its a crazy idea...but
Would it be that out of the question to trade Kane now and resign him in the summer?
I feel like this isnt talked about much. If he really does like it here, then maybe he would agree to an arrangement like this.
This way he gets his shot in the playoffs - MCGUIZZY
Wouldn't mind pulling a Moulson.
I think Kane has real value and will get us a decent return. Even if we sign him, which I still hope we do, we could really use some futures as well.
I like it, two birds... |

You wind up in a moulson like situation. you'll probably have to overpay by even more because now he's getting offers from other teams.
If they aren't comfortable with whatever number hes given them now I cant imagine that will get any better on July 1. |

It’s ideal
But a big risk as to whether or not we could actually pull it off |

I wouldn't count on it. Right now, a team might be thinking that they'd never go over 5 years with Kane.
All the sudden, if he's a FA on July 1, GMs won't be able to help themselves. They'll be tripping over each other offering huge deals.
If he's a FA on July 1, a team will offer 7x7 i bet |

The only "risk" is that Kane is not bound to anything. He may decide he wants to play elsewhere. - buffalofan19

We somehow still lost that trade, i think. Or at least didn't really win it

What risk though? If he isn't going to resign, you traded him for what you could get. If you resign him after the trade, you win doubly. The only "risk" I'd say would be if he goes to a playoff team, loves it there and decides to resign.
I really just want to avoid losing him for nothing. If there is any doubt he will resign, he has to go by the TDL. |

I wouldn't count on it unless it was discussed with the player and the agent. Anything other than, "Yeah I'm coming back" means ship him off no matter what. |

I’m just saying. I drive from Florida to California all the time, and it’s flat to me. I do not go up and down at a 360-degree angle, and all that stuff about gravity, have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all these buildings? You mean to tell me that China is under us? China is under us? It’s not. The world is flat.”

Again, I know you don't actually believe that, but Shaq was just trolling Kyrie. He couldn't even keep it up for 3 days before he broke and said what a moron Kyrie was. Despite being big and talking kind of slow, Shaq is actually a very smart man. He's got an MBA and a doctorate(a real one, not a fake celebrity one) in education. |

Or Sam Reinhart.

Do we think we can get him back though?
That’s a big risk
I could see the thought process there
And if we miss out on Kane,
we could potentially go after JvR or Neal to replace him
Could we get any of those guys to sign here though?
I’m guessing we’d have to overpay - jdfitz77
Def a risk of him never coming back. I think it would need to be made clear whether he really wants to come back or not. If he truly does like it here and he buys into what the future may bring, then maybe he may be interested.
Let him know we want him in the fold going forward and Give him a chance at a cup as a favor in the meantime.
