But seriously at this point keeping Kane makes zero sense, and believe me I want him to stay here, it just doesn't make sense financially and with the team needing at least another full season after this one to rebuild before even thinking about the playoffs, his body is just not made to take the type of abuse he puts on it with his style of play.

By the time they made the playoffs he would have maybe 2 good years left.

Get as much as you can for him now. If they want to think about signing him on July 1st that's a different scenario and there would have to be some contracts moved (which is easier to do in the off season)

All very true. If he keeps this up, it will be the best year of his career so far, and i would even say it will be the best year when his career is finished. How much can be attributed to Jack opening up space, and how much does Kane value that? He and his agent need to figure out his priorities. Jack is best for his long term stats, but the Sabres won't be best for his pocket book
