Better than mur - taleisyreXIII
I think I'd like to wait till he at least plays ten games to even begin to say something like that.
I am super excited about Jarry though. He's legit. |

Goalies are a funny thing. I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say that every year there seems to be a young goalie that gets called up and is very impressive then just falls into obscurity. |

Don't forget about Gustavsson. I don't know what to think about DeSmith. Carreer AHLer? |

Probably. Gustavsson has been putting up good numbers. He's still only 19, so I'm sure we're a good three years away from seeing him sniff the NHL

We forget how young Murray and Jarry are too. Gustavsson coming up in 3 years is just fine for me. |

I've thought he was incredible the moment I saw him win memorial cup with edm. He is legit and it has seemed to translate to the big league. |

Islanders getting away with a lot of pick plays..subtle interference that sometimes is called and sometimes isnt. Reminds me of the late 90s red wings. - taleisyreXIII
Isles get to run over Jarry and take shots at Crosby. With nothing called. But Pens get nailed for 4 penalties. Yep, sounds just like the 90's. Wonder if Paul Stewart and Kerry Fraser are working tonight?

I'm not denying he's not the real deal. I just want to make sure he's not a flash in the pan before I start calling him better than certain players. He only as seven games under his belt, but there's reason to feel good. |

Are you out of your mind? Murray is a stud! Jarry is Fleury-lite. I'll take Murray any day |

How about we wait until Jarry has played more than just seven or eight games to say what is or isn't? |

I find it disrespectful by the Islanders management to let Whore-Sang wear #66.
I know it's just me but #99 and #66 are icons that shouldn't be touched out of respect.
Anyone with that sentiment?

Nope. He's a big Mario fan. |

But I don't consider mur elite either...servicable above average and good enough to win with a team that can outscore anyone. So taking that into consideration I am just stating an opinion. |

Murray has two cups.
Jarry is currently playing in his eighth game. |

I kinda agree...the nhl should not have retired 99 though really. Then it wouldn't matter. |

By that logic we should have kept maf he has 3 and an Olympic gold. |

I think he looks ridiculous running around with Mario's number on his back. Especially 'cause he's not even on the same planet as far as talent goes. |

That literally makes zero sense.
All I'm saying it's early to say a player playing in his eighth NHL is better than a guy with two cups.
I keep saying I'm excited about Jarry, I think he's legit, but to say he's better than Murray? Just too early. |

Any number not retired is fair game IMO. I think if Gretzky's number is retired then Mario's number should also be retired, but since its not I have no issue with a player wanting to pay homage to him. |
