With Dorsett having to retire to early it made me look back on so many other careers that got cut short because the put their bodies on the line in different ways for the game. It is not a small list and they were all extreme talents. Bossy, Bure, Forsberg, Lindros, Lemuiex just to name a few.

I know you "only named a few"...but how can you not include Bobby Orr in this list? Amazing player who had knee problems & surgeries that forced him out by 30, with 2-3 of his playing years shortened quite a bit from injury!

(of course, you have to ignore Don Cherry's rabid bro-love for Orr)

Quick glance at the top 30 in NHL scoring, there's only three players from the NCAA hockey in there, way more from Europe and led predominantly by CHL players.

A lot of great players in the leagues top 50 in scoring are Europeans, why haven't the Canucks hit on more Euro's?

I agree. This all goes back to the team not being able to add enough extra draft picks in the past. And also wasting late round picks on CHL scrubs with limited skill.

Matt Tkachuck doesn't do those things... at least yet but he does remind me of Burrows a lot. A very comparable player if we think about the offensive years Burrows had.

I was not a Burrows fan. I dont care about embellishments but the soccer like fabrications that there was contact and rolling around pretending to be injured really puts me off... Kesler was like that as well... but then the biting and hair pulling from Burrows just put him so much lower on my disgust list...

I look at the Comets roster on who can replace Sven. It brings me to tears
