I think there is a very real chance EK is going somewhere. OTT is a small-market Canadian team with financial issues and he's already come out and said that he is going to be paid what he's worth. Even if OTT can afford to pay him what he wants, that team is a mess right now.

Being as objective as is humanly possible for an Islander fan: I don't honestly think the Rangers have the pieces to acquire him. Definitely not the Kings, unless they decide that they don't want to re-sign Doughty.

Will depend on what his "list" of teams looks like, but I have to think that someone will be able to offer more than what the Rangers/Kings are offering.

I assume that his modified-NTC makes him contractually obligated to submit a list of teams he would accept trades to if OTT requests it. I guess he could just wait until he's a UFA and go where he wants, but he's already submitting a list of places he would be OK playing, so I would have to assume he'd likely re-sign wherever he goes.

No, it's not a sure-thing and I didn't say it was. But if you're listing, let's say, 10 teams you will accept a trade to then I think it's fair to assume that the player would at least be interested in playing for those 10 teams. Nothing is a sure-bet, but I think it's fair to assume that if he will accept a trade there then he will at least consider staying there.
