They get temporary relief during their recovery, but I believe they have been recalling/maximizing the usage in order to utilize it for Boeser's eventual performance bonuses.
If I recall correctly, the performance bonuses are calculated at the end of the season and if you have space from LTIR you can apply it to that season, otherwise it carries over and the following season opens with less space - WhiteLie
That`s good news. We`ll need $850K. |

Reality always hits once you realize what else is going on around the league.
Ducks have been destroyed by injuries this year.
LA without Jeff Carter
STL started the season without Steen/JBo
Vegas has started like 10 different goalies - Nucker101
Canucks would take that reality of other teams over what they are going through... but Vegas and their goalies ... that's just a cirque de sole feat there .... magic show beyond comprehension.

Canucks will begin to look worse with a few more top performers out since its last update, but ANA was hit very hard and they are still in the hunt. Others ahead of VAN will only get better when these guys return |

I'm just saying, other teams have injuries too. Canucks have only had Horvat out for a couple of games if we're comparing teams right now so if you look at it like that, it hasn't been that bad compared to teams like Vegas and the Ducks. |

Yeah, Canucks will definitely climb that list with Horvat/Sutter/Gud still out and Dorsett done. |

Boeser, Goldobin, Virtanen and Stecher are all still on ELC's. Depending on what their bonuses are, it could all add up.
Last year's results, only Edmonton and Washington had available space to save cap space. Toronto got hit the hardest to start this year:

Must be nice to actually have a bunch of ELC guys light it up so much that the team gets wrecked by bonuses lol. |

I wonder how much those guys will affect the bubble size though. Dorsett, Sutter and Gudbranson are not really viewed well among the analytics community as having a great impact on the game results. Bo and Sven are much more important losses |

Maybe thats why Marner has been kept down on the 4th line: can't let him hit anymore bonuses, gotta save some cap space |

Thanks for that. Thought they needed to be placed on LTIR in order to reap some type of cap saving though. |

I didn't quite dig into how it was calculated but up/down is wins; left/right is man games lost; and the bubble size "represents lost-point shares metric (points lost in standings due to injured players)".
Apparently it comes from hockey-reference who break down the points earned by the Canucks (32) and divide it to the contributions of the players based on offensive and defensive performance.
Of the 32 points Sutter is worth 0.2 points, Gudbranson 0.6, Dorsett 1.2, Horvat 2.5 and Boeser/Markstrom lead the team with 3.7 |

yeah I am not too sure. I think they have been waiting for players to be out long enough to retroactively do it but I am not a capologist and won't pretend I know what I am talking about |

We are a borderline playoff team when healthy....sadly no team is ever healthy so we never had a chance. We need a few more solid drafts before we have the depth to withstand top 6 injuries |

Ducks are supposed to be a deeper team that would win the division again. So look where they are with injuries. Canucks a bottom feeder and have had consistent injuries to key players all season managed to stay in contention. Now the last straws of injury have them tumble down the bubble. Just reality so don't know what the point is? ... Canucks should be better? |

But, but........October and November, we were going to win the cup. |
