Same with Boedker. Seems like some people thrive under Andy kaufman and others can't seem to produce at all. - neem55
Boedker was a guy that some cautioned against trading for/signing coming out of Phoenix. The guy was given 1st lines minutes + PP time on a bottom feeder and produced like a 2nd/3rd liner, especially at even strength. Those are the type of guys who usually end up being bad pickups.
SJ was going to play him as a 2nd/3rd liner so even with improved linemates, he was going to produce less since he wouldn't touch the 17-18:30 minutes per game he was used to getting.
It was a risky signing. |

it's a good point. It's almost as if statistics and deployment play a crucial role as to whether you should acquire a player... |

lineage i.e. where a player was drafted often plays too big a role. |

And Ottawa is asking their players as well, not us though we're one big dysfunctional familia here. Eriksson and Edler should be asked to provide a list imo. - VanHockeyGuy
Ottawa is only asking guys with modified NTC's to provide their lists of acceptable/nonacceptable destinations. Tanev is the only one that has that with VAN this season and I am sure he's been asked as a formality |

"offensively, there's no limit to what he can do"
I'm not sure I see the comparison, but I admittedly don't know the player well beyond this article - neem55
He's a big body, skates well. I don't believe the "there's no limit" thing. Sounds like something an agent would say or a scout with a hard on.
Evan Bouchard and Bode Wilde at 14 and 13 would be good comparables |

It's always fun(and enlightening) to go back and read scouting reports on players.
Burmistrov:
Strengths
Hockey IQ off the charts
Superb stickhandling
Majestic playmaking ability <----lol
Speed to burn
Excellent in all three zones
Can play in any situation
Good faceoff technique
Low centre of gravity makes him tough to knock off puck.
Outstanding work ethic (tireless worker in practices)
Flaws/Aspects He Needs To Work On:
Continue to train to increase strength and mass to very lean build.
Consistency.
Maximizing utilizing teammates.
NHL Player(s) Comparison:
– At his best: Pavel Datsyuk |

I find some comparisons and all of Craig Button's to be way off.
I think it was Craig Button who claimed that Matthew Tkachuk was like Rich Nash. That's when I realized Craig Button is a bigger moron then I had thought. |

13. Bode Wilde, D, 6-foot-2, 197 pounds (USNTDP): Great skater, big shot, enjoys the offensive side of the game. Athletic genes have put him on a pro path since early in his minor hockey career.
all i've ever read is how great of a skater he is from all the scouting reports. Watching a highlight package the other day. He's got a good stride, his first steps are so slow and his edges are bad. It doesn't say that in any skating report |

Button's comps are stupid, but some of his wild rankings end up being right. I think his brother is still scouting for the Flames.
That wasn't even a Button scouting report on Burmistrov though lol. It was The Hockey Writers.
But the hyperbole that gets thrown around by everyone over prospects is funny. |

Just always a lot of over hype on prospects. They talk them up so people get excited. |
