I think Calder will boil down to whoever has more pts.
barzal will get bonus for being a center and making playoffs. Boeser will get bonus in having significantly more goals, and more GWG. This will even them out until point totals are done. Also if Barzal has a good playoff it could put him over the top. - Retinalz
It's a lot to ask for either of them to keep up the pace but Barzal has better players to compliment what he does. |

Honestly, I am not even sure what I want them to do... I know I cannot watch more Chaput/Menga AHL crap. If we are going to lose, lose with the kids and help them grow..... I guess..... - Beatle_john
Giving up assets for a 'top 9' forward is a panic move and not something we need to be doing right now. MNGT needs to get rid of this so-called pipe dream of the playoffs and just let the kids grow like you said. If Boeser gets the Calder I'll call that a huge win for the season. Call 'er good. |

Playoffs aren't counted for the Calder "The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of the regular season" |

Not necessarily- if we trade a UFA for a controllable top 9 forward that’s a win. Totally depends on the price |

I thought their stated objective was to remain competitive enough to develop the young guys. Do you think BB would thrive if he came to every game under the notion there was no chance to compete? Sure good players find ways to perform but it does sink into their psyche.
Could say Yotes struggles started sinking Keller and Isles recent success turnaround raised Barzal. BB has been boucing around that bubble with Canuck treading. If they sink and bottom out so may his development.
That said don't want to see futures traded unless its for a long term build move like 4th for Pouliot. |

Good to know, but being on a team that made the playoffs does play into the discussion. |

This is where you continually miss the point. Not a single person here, no matter which label you want to put on them, wants the team to be terrible, and to lose. Everyone has the same goal, a Stanley Cup. The difference is that some people can accept that the team, as currently constructed, is seriously devoid of high end NHL talent. Sure, if everything goes right they can’t beat the cream of the crop, but that’s hard to do 82 times per season.
There are plenty of people here that are “optimistic” while at the same time acknowledging that there is still a long way to go before the Canucks are “good” again. - 1970vintage

I'm sure you're right...the quality & visibility (east coast voters!) of the team that the rookies play for would be factors in the voting, along with their stats & contribution to their team.

Infighting in the team?
Infighting with the coach?
Why do you think this? Is there something I have missed?
Just instinct? - Beatle_john
Yes, infighting in HB posters. |

Goldy interview
“It’s all about instincts. Where is the puck and how can I make a play? But I haven’t had practices this hard. It’s hard for me.”
“His opinions of working and mine are sometimes different,” said Green.
“He’s a good playmaker and sees the ice well,” Boeser said of Goldobin. “He just has to make sure he brings that compete level each and every day and put in the effort. That pass to me in Nashville, I’m not even sure how he got that through.

There was a point in this season where I thought Markstrom might make the jump to no.1 status but it just isn't to be. AHL and a decent backup is most likely where he will have his career. There was a reason he almost set the record for NHL games played without a shutout lol. - LordHumungous
Something like Talbot. |
