As a Center on the 1st line he is expected to produce at a 0.90 PPG rate to be considered average. He is producing at a 0.77 Rate, making his production below average. That is over a 30 game period, Not some cherry picking 3 game sample.

Yet, he will be paid as an elite center. At that point, he should be expected to produce at 1.0 PPG rate, a mere 10% increase over average. The other pay is dedicated to producing in other aspects of play ... like defensive effort and his subpar faceoff win rate to drive team success.

The boy needs to realize that to whom much is given, much is expected.
When he mans up and produces a solid all around game...then, and only then will he live up to expectations.

His current production and play is that of a 2nd line center, like it or not.

i don't recall saying eichel was mcdavid level. Just that he's playing 1st line level, points are dry because the secondary padding points from PP and having a semi competent team aren't there.

If he got the benefit of maybe a defensemen scoring a goal or two, or anyone scoring and giving him a few secondary assists, he'd be top 15 in scoring
