I wish that were true. LE got the highest bid from Vancouver I bet. Same with Miller. Sedin money has to go somewhere and I wouldn't be that surprised. |

>>>Trade Gudbranson to the highest bidder, accept the loss and move on.
>>>Sign Kane to a fair UFA deal that won't handcuff the team again (if that's possible). If not move on. |

Protect the kids from what? How are they supposed grow if not to overcome adversity. I bet you have a participation ribbon framed on your desk. - 1970vintage
No, I would have smashed Hartnell in the face. I don't think Boeser should be in charge of scoring goals and protecting the Sedin's |

The team as it stands today doesn't have the desire/ability to stand up for themselves.

it's getting to that point, already at an all-time low so far this season..
I'm all for team toughness, but there's bigger problems that need to be addressed first. |

Quick question here...if Vanek has the second most PP goals since Ovechkin joined the league why is he not on PP1? |

This season so far it's 17.36%, that's still quite a bit. On a rebuilding team shouldn't the young players know someone has their back when things get rough?
Teams are going to have a heyday with Elias Pettersson What happens then?
Cry to the refs?
PS nice chart ya geek |

Good question. He and Boeser have the best shots on the team, with Bo out I'd like to see him out there.
The 2nd unit was completely garbage last night, they couldn't even get into the zone |

It kind of reminds me of my favorite southpark episode featuring Randy Marsh vs. Batdad. Unnecessary, but somehow part of the culture. |

For those of you that didn't expect games like this have over evaluated this talent starved team.
I am sure most realize this team lacks in every single department from skill to defensive ability to team toughness.
We are still 3 years away get over it.
Mr. Benning
Please don't sign any highpriced help. Stick with the drafting of talent for this team. |

How do you know that? Because Stercher didn’t drop his gloves when he got a little face wash? Would that have made you feel better? The team isn’t very good to begin with, and has several players out of the lineup. This conversation just proves that people here actually thought they had a chance, if only they were tougher, they could win the big one. - 1970vintage[/quote]

Sure, but priority wise, I want management focussing on building up a strong future core. Build a culture, starting in the AHL, rookie camps, training camps, where team toughness is emphasized.
You don't have to have a team with 3-4 guys who are in charge of protecting the other 16-17 guys, you need a team mentality. There's more scrums/agitating(like Hartnell/Subban) than there is actual head hunting and fighting these days.
Notice how the Preds didn't drop any gloves or really challenge anyone to a fight, but the message was sent loud and clear to the Canucks.
I'd rather build an actual culture with the next core instead of overpaying in trades/ufa for outside help.
That can be done when the team is ready to compete in the playoffs again. |

i wouldn't trade for "toughness" right now. chances are that the cost will be higher than the team can afford during the season.
nor would i try to draft for anything other than bpa at the top of the draft.
unless an affordable trade presents itself (unlikely) i would add toughness through lower/mid-range ufa's in the summer. i would not sign kane(!!).
getting a tougher team should be a longer range goal, not a reaction to a 7-1 loss. - RealityChecker
Toughness can be had for free on the waiver wire |

The team sucks so why not add a bit of grit via the waiver wire? Our toughest player is Guance Let the rookies focus on scoring goals and not the post whistle scrums |
