I agree. But then "whipping boy" might also be seen as guys getting the most attention and coaching from the staff. I personally want the coaching staff to focus on working with the kids, could care less whether the 27 and overs are playing Green's system well personally. - neem55
The discussion here, on the radio, and in social media is a lot of misdirection.
The discussion here is which 800 k fringe prospect deserves to play the one that can't score or the one that cant play D. As long as we are focusing on this we are not discussing the real issue .
Daniel Hank Loui Gagner Sutter Granlund 28.5 million 24 goals combined after 31 games. |

That is completley irrelevant. We also still have Rathbone not that it matters. - CanuckDon
It is very relevant. Why are you trading your top 6 forward then? Rathbone may never play a NHL game in his life. Goldobin was suppose to be the main part of the trade. |

While the Sedin "resurgence" (same points trajectory, more chances, fewer minutes) might be sustainable for a while, I personally find these stats way more exciting:
Brock Boeser -- 28 points in 28 games in the big league as a rookie
Elias Petterson -- 35 points in 26 games in the SHL, 7 points in 9 games in CL
Jonathan Dahlén -- 22 points in 19 games in Allsvenskan
Bonus: 6 prospects in the WJC, which I'm looking forward to watching! |

Jeff Patterson had a good take on this. Try to listen to his podcast.
Readers digest version : Canucks have only held 2 practices since Goldobin has arrived and he is not sure Green was there for either practice.Nothing stood out about Goldobin at the practices good or bad. JPat even suggested that Green may hate practice even more that Torts did.
JPat never called Bull Crap but he did seem very surprised at Greens statement that he doesn't practice hard. - VANTEL
I always have noticed Patterson has put a concentrated effort at presenting an opinion that is contrary just so he can say it is own. Green has coaches running practices. He relies on them one way or another. He'll turn to them for their assessment and I'm sure their observations will look much different than Patterson's.
Patterson really is a bonehead in my opinion. He hitches his wagon to every un-talked about player in the system and try really hard to make a controversy out of it often failing with a whimper.

How is floating and not paying attention to details & being inconsistent, not similar?
To me they are at par.
Perhaps I don't have the superior intellect that you demonstrate? For that I offer my humble apologies. - Marwood
If you add in not paying attention to details then it can be interpreted as part of floating where lack of effort is the basis. But there is a distinction that was made that isn't about intellect, as you have it, but application and experience perhaps.
Like when you read a post if you focus on one line or a few words and not apply the connecting sentences then the theme or premise may come out differently to you. See how that works when applied to focus. Its not singularly defined to paying attention to some detail. That can lose the meaning of what was made.
So in reference to Goldy it is the grasping of how, when and where to implement a detail or make a move. Doing that consistently leads to performance excellence. This is where instinct and skill is challenged to expand beyond effort.
Thus, focusing in learning that discipline is more then paying attention to details but applying all of the concepts at the right time. |

Take the name out of the equation . They are on pace this year for 40 pts. Next year with the additional players their TOI would be reduced again. So figure on 35 points each. THat is third line productivity.
Pay them as third liners and give them third line minutes , let Bo and Brock take leadership and introduce EP and Gaudette.
Paying 5 mil each is stupid but if you are looking at 3.5 mil each then I would put my personal thoughts aside. |

Magic I guess? Ask Patterson.
I'm making the point that one way or the other, Green will listen to his coaches over Patterson? Right?
