Fair list. But look at all those picks gone, doesn't make sense for guy who's good at drafting to trade that many, especially when the team sucks ass.
- Nucker101

I'm sure he could of found a top 9 forward in those 12 picks traded away.

Yes it does seem that way or when he has tried to dive he's been stripped of the puck. Which may make him hesitant and look bad if it turns into a break the other way.

Something JV needs to learn is puck protection to use his body mass. Confidence helps too. Probably why its so hard to develop a power forward. Baby steps though may put it all together by the time EP arrives.

- Nuck4U

Totally agree. Bo Horvat is a great example of puck protection, reminds me so much of Marian Hossa.

He likes to trade them and struggles to acquire them.

He already listed Hansen as a win lol

Dowd is TBD, looks like a meaningless trade so far.

Jensen trade: How the hell is trading a 6th for an AHL upgrade a win? lol

You can find Etem's for free every year.

To date, none of those moves have improved the on-ice product, the team has sucked despite all those picks gone so has he really been effective at his job? What's he accomplished in three and a half years?

Benning has never added picks to draft more than the normal seven times you're suppose to draft, never, for a rebuilding team, that's horsepoop!!

It's only 9 picks traded away and 6 gained. Could use some of the current players that were traded for with picks to regain those 3 picks back. Also the second round pick thanks to the CBA for torts. So 2 picks

I’d vote the Sutter trade a win.
And Kessler a draw. No way to win that one given the conditions.
13-7. 😉

Yeah, you can argue over the wins and losses, but the totality is what matters.

I can trade the Canucks 2018 2nd + depth prospect for Kane and it's a loss if he walks

But if I trade Vanek for a 3rd/4th and Gudbranson for a 2nd + depth prospect

I'm 2-1 but have I really set the team up to be better? No

Fair comment and early on you know the plan was to accelerate the rebuild of getting younger with developed prospects and gambled away some picks. But at least he stayed true to core rebuilding by keeping his 1st round picks.

Maybe Bo should stick around this summer and train with JV like Sedins have shown leadership to do same with others.

They have more NHL talent than the Canucks do, which is sad. Truthfully they assembled a bunch of players that can skate really well in today's game and they're having success with it. Outside of Fleury and Neal they don't really have too many household names.
- LeftCoaster

They don't have the Sedin's slowing them down.

He drafted 8 last year because of Columbus signing Tort, so the inept signing of Torts for Aquilini paid off.

Or Vanek, or Eriksson, or Gagner, or Grandlund, or Baertschi...none of those guys skate with pace.

Yes but my point is HE only got his original seven picks back, the extra pick they got last year was from the league, not from Benning.

It was to downgrade win to even on Hansen if you reread lol. But will take back the upgrade suggestion of loss to even on Jensen. Forgot he included a draft pick. Oh lord WD wanted his junior player Etem so much

I watched Vegas last night and they're not very big but man they're fast, they gave the Pens all they could handle and won the game.

You need size but you need players that can skate and play. Pittsburgh is not a better team with Reaves in their lineup, they lost some depth with guys who can actually play the game, Reaves made them worse.

- LeftCoaster

We beat Pittsburgh twice handly and looked fast but we had a full lineup.

Traded away:
Bieksa
Burrows
Forsling
Garrison
Hansen
Kesler
Lack
Kassian
Shinkaruk
2nd
2nd
4th
5th

Received:
Baertschi
Dahlen
Dorsett
Goldobin
Granlund
Gudbranson
Larsen
Pouliot
Prust
Sbisa
Sutter
Vey
7th

This is roughly the totality, cancelling out picks that he acquired/traded that were in the same round. And not including the AHL'ers traded(insert Lack, Shinkaruk, Larsen and Vey jokes here). Also removing players/picks he acquired and then traded again.

Benning couldn't find a pick if they were laying on the ground.

Yes we did, but I didn't think they looked fast doing it. Horvat Boeser and Baertschi are a good line but only Horvat has good to decent wheels.
