I capitalized on the last trade. I happened to be on a road trip the summer he was traded, and popped into the Pepsi Center for an $85 dollar ROR jersey as a gift.

If i were GM, i would say to anyone interested in Kane that they have to take Okposo, non-negotiable. I also believe we have the opportunity to retain salary on 2 players right now, so i would do something like:

Kane + Okposo (50%retained = $5.75) to St. Louis

for Jay Boumeester and a 3rd

Basically the Sabres get nothing out of it but cap relief for Okposo, but it's the most painless way to shed his salary without losing assets

Yeah, i agree with you. From everything that I've read here, people who know stuff seem to think that Botts just wants to shed salary. If that truly is his goal, this is one way to do that.

But by the time this team is good, these bad contracts will be far less term and we won't have to pay such a steep price to shed them. Leaving Okposo on here on the 3rd line for another year or two will not hurt us cap wise, and he might be the one player who gets back to producing.

We won't be good until 2019-20 and by then almost every bad contract will be history and Pommer will be gone as well. We can buy out Bogo's last season and we can waive Okposo, let him groom kids in the AHL.

I'm just saying in general that we don't need to pay a heavy price right now to move Okposo, it's not needed. Right now we need to keep our prospects and especially picks and load up on Dman in this draft.

Okposo might still bounce back, we should give him at least this season to recover. After all, he's not the only player playing like poop this season.
