This goes back to what I said earlier, every discussion becomes a referendum on the ways ROR is underperforming, despite him being on pace for 20 goals while playing with Pouliot and Okposo, and now girgensons.

The only arguments I've heard are about how a former 15 goal scorer who is on pace for 3 goals this year is paid less than a bona fide 2nd liner playing with bottom six players.

Ror was a player that made his own credibility. Now he has the tag he needs better players .

Difference between stars and not stars it seems.

Star players will score no mater who their line mates are . They take it to the goalie and be better than him. We have ATM .. Jack that can do that . Hopefully this past game is a turning point for him. he played the puck and didn't rely on anyone else cause it hasn't worked .

Does any Coach or GM have a frank conversation with their players on expected production?
As most of you know, in Corp America it is common 5o have these discussions once per quarter, per employee to clearly communicate:
- What is expected,
- how your performance compares to expectations
- barriers/ hurdles to overcome
- tactics to achieve

So, picking on Jack purely as example which could be extended to say 22 others..

One tiny thing, absolutely no one is expecting Jack to win 55%+ of his FOs. No one. It's not even pie in the sky. It's asinine. Considering he's barely at 40% for his career. He has improved this year over a point compared to last year. And he's better than McDavid this year.

I also doubt +/- is a huge deal.

Some GMs grade the players every game. I'd be willing to bet Botterill does. I know Shero used to.

My point is people are quick to jump on Reinhart (rightly in my opinion. He has the ability to be better), they're quick to jump on ROR who is producing like a true #2C, whose linemates were a slumping Okposo, a third liner in Pouliot and Girgensons who has lost his game totally, and hes playing the best lines against because we dont have a checking line (shouldnt zemgus be anchoring that checking line?). They're quick to jump on Ristolainen, who plays crazy minutes and was picked 6 picks earlier than Zemgus, and they're quick to jump on Eichel (Not Even gonna go there), but 14th overall zemgus holds zero culpability for some readon

It's where the player is picked in the round. 2nd overall, 1st forward naturally has higher expectations.

Girgs was 14th and 6th or 7th for ward taken.

Yes the difference of 12 spots in the draft is huge.

Gmtm won it all with lehner in the ahl. That was his guy and he traded for him. Lehner has played in over 100 games for buffalo. Maybe only 20 good ones, but still most late 1st rounders .
