You're still making the Bo player to player comparison and that is not why I mentioned him lol. It was that attaching a ceiling within first couple years of play in NHL career is too early. I'll give you Bo started out as better player and showed improvement faster. Probably stay that way cause I don't think JV's hockey IQ will ever catch up.
Ferraro actually lives in Vancouver but why take his word as gospel? That shrimp doesn't know about a power forward's development more then Bertuzzi.
Who are these 21 year old power forwards playing top 6 in the NHL?
For JV have some patience and let it play out. - Nuck4U
My point was that Bertuzzi has a reason for bias. Ferraro watches/analyzes hockey for a living and has no bias with the Canucks.
And you misunderstood my point about looking around the league at top 6 players. I said look back at how they developed and the numbers they put up in their respective leagues after being drafted from age 19-21, how many have had similar offensive output as Jake at that point and still went on to flourish offensively? That list is small. |

That proves my point and where he was on Canucks was where these guys are now. - Nuck4U

No, it doesn't.
Your point was refuting that these guys aren't currently legit NHL players.
It proves that they might be able to carve out careers as depth NHL'ers, but what the other posters here are saying is that they're not legit NHL'ers until they prove so.
Weber's current status has nothing to do with where the Canucks scrubs are at their careers right now and what they should be called right now. |

You don't judge a players worth over a two game body of work, pro players can play well for short stints in the NHL but rarely do AHL players play well over 82 games or they wouldn't be AHL players. - LeftCoaster
Wrong, they're playing in an nhl building, wearing NHL jerseys on an NHL roster which means they are NHL players, I thought this was previously established.... |

Sedins on the back check
Top 5 pick - VANTEL
it was pretty much like that the whole game if they lose the puck. Without Tanev to cover for them they get more exposed. |

I agree that it'd be nice to trade him but Benning seems to like him for some reason, I hope he Bieksa's him at the draft. |

Then where is Bo, Sven, Dorsett, Sutter, Tanev right now? Out of the 6 we listed, certainly 5 of them are filling space for those guys.
And holding a roster spot, like Biega does, doesn't make him an NHLer when he only sees ice time when someone gets hurt... - WhiteLie
Some will take the opportunity and stay and others will look for it elsewhere and if not then wind up out of the NHL all together. That has yet to be determined.
Goldy is still developing into NHL caliber. Boucher is on cusp. The rest have roles to carve out or not. It still doesn't make them absolute and only AHL. Which is where this began. I'll leave it with the nuance of the point and take what you want of it. |

they're not anything enough.
Speed, skill, size, strength, etc.
Can't overcome the significant injuries when you're already a mediocre at best team. - Nucker101
Don't know why you are complaining about a rebuilding team when isn't this the type of outcomes you want? Entertaining game. Some development from young guys and a loss. |

Where am I complaining? I'm just stating facts. I'm actually really happy with the result tonight. Brock played great and the team lost. Wish JV/Stecher/Pouliot played a bit better too, but oh well. |

I think optically they may look a little more coherent, but they are giving up more goals per game than last season, and offensively the D have scored 6.8% of the total goals this year, down from 12% the year before (yes both of these are not stats that absolutely reflect the group, but they are a part of why they are worse)
I think new coach, new roles and injuries have been challenging, but I think an argument could be made against saying they are performing better. Just my thoughts - WhiteLie
Fair points. Probably the aggressive TG system gets busted for goals against when you got the Sedins, Vanek and Gagner back checking. |

He does this every single time. Comes in playing like an actual bulldog but then wears out. He plays such a high energy style and he's not big enough to do it so he tails off. - Nucker101
I agree that has been his pattern. But Vantel called BS and says he needs better parnters. Still either way he still sticks to NHL roster and doesn't make him just AHL. I can evolve my take given is performance, can you? |
