yeah, it's true how many players have similar stats to gretzky due to playing in that era! - RealityChecker
He'd dominate in any era and is the GOAT, but the point total inflation exists. |

With that in mind I guess it would be best to sign Gaudette for a contract starting next season? Based on the expansion rules?
I dont really get them.. - mauryballstein
The rule was if you played 2 or less professional seasons then you were safe. Assuming the draft is after the 2020 Stanley Cup, then 2018-19 and 2019-20 are 2 seasons so it would be better Gaudette didnt play this year (also now that I have done some math, I will backtrack and say OJ would probably be safe too) |

stats over generations are mostly useless.
number of games has changed. overtime vs ties. overtime rules etc.
imo, the only way to compare players over generations is to gauge the separation at the top i.e. how much better was/is the player over the rest of the field. gretz, lemieux, orr. the order depends on personal preference. |

Good call by TG, the young dmen need a wakeup call. Even DP has struggled lately after a great start.
I would sit out a forward for Boucher as well if Boeser is playing. Gotta make changes after that turd of a game. - Nucker101

Cheers!
Hopefully JB takes this in to consideration before signing him. |

Good on clearing that up and wanted to add that any of the prospects who may play next season with Canucks like Gaudette, EP, & OJ would fall under exempt status for Seattle 2020 expansion draft.

As long as the rules don't change for above. But JV, BB, Goldy, Pouliot, Stecher, Hutton would need to be protected next time for expansion draft. Not sure about Tryamkin though assuming he doesn't return before 2020-2021 season. |

The Blues had Sobotka to deal with, Tryamkin would need protection |

It will be interesting to see how Gudbranson plays tonight, man that guy's missed a lot of time. - VanHockeyGuy
He needs to be moved ASAP . One more injury he could walk for nothing |

I'm hoping Gaudette's season goes long and takes the choice out of JB's hands - WhiteLie
If he plays less then 9 contract slides but they want to sign him so as not to return to college and get free agent status.
Benefit to Gaudette signing and playing before this season ends is getting paid the bonus and experience of some NHL games to prepare for 2018 camp.

"THIS DATE IN 1984: Wayne Gretzky recorded 1,000 points in the fewest games in NHL history, reaching the milestone in his 424th game."
Wow... - LeftCoaster
There will never be another Gretz
Well Boeser but after him never |

But Tryamkin wasn't protected for Vegas and was exempt. So what would change if didn't play any more NHL games for next one? |

No slide for Gaudette, he's too old. As soon as his name goes onto the gamesheet, a year is burned |

He's already played through a 2 year NHL contract and is continuing in pro hockey in Russia for the next several, he wont have protections. His age was what saved him last time as his pro years under age 20 didnt count |

I thought it was pro years in NHL that only counted. But you might have the link or article that explains it better. Thanks. |

Right... huh... laughable since Subban never played a single game for Canucks. |
