Agree on pro equivalency of Europe and AHL. Not sure if that was rule within exapasion draft. Tree was 22 at time having played in KH as well as NHL games. Anyway, we'll find out more when details come out.

Don't think any signings or moves Canucks make this season or next will factor in the Seattle expansion for consideration.

stats over generations are mostly useless.

number of games has changed. overtime vs ties. overtime rules etc.

imo, the only way to compare players over generations is to gauge the separation at the top i.e. how much better was/is the player over the rest of the field. gretz, lemieux, orr. the order depends on personal preference.

Good on clearing that up and wanted to add that any of the prospects who may play next season with Canucks like Gaudette, EP, & OJ would fall under exempt status for Seattle 2020 expansion draft.

As long as the rules don't change for above. But JV, BB, Goldy, Pouliot, Stecher, Hutton would need to be protected next time for expansion draft. Not sure about Tryamkin though assuming he doesn't return before 2020-2021 season.

The ones you bolded are the next wave to provide depth on a team if not a key role. Why would you want to lose one for nothing? Are you hoping for more high end free agents to be signed in a couple years? Or you rather protect the Gagner's, LE's etc?
