I personally feel that :

To be a successful nhl franchise you need high end talent and a feeder system from the ahl.

Right now we are lining up for another high pick and the amerks are 3Rd overall.

I believed in the original mceichel tank and stand bye the sabres this year.

I'm also a season ticket holder , the games and the atmosphere at the arena sucks. We need another top player to go with eichel.

There is no short cut

Don't get too excited about Rochester.

A lot of their success is brought on by "AHL-lifers." I don't mind it, because it gets our prospects in the mindset of winning. CJ Smith, Nylander, Bailey, Baptiste and Guhle are all getting positive experience.

I believed in the tank, but I think you could point to the success of Las Vegas as an argument against it. They pulled together a bunch of "middle-tier" players and they're tied for the top of the Western Conference. They identified what they wanted to do and they did it.

We all blamed Bylsma and his system for making our players worse. Now we're blaming the players for not executing the system. It just seems like we're always trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Time to jettison this core.

Well said. Good luck 'jettisoning' this core. Teams will only want the pieces you want to keep.

I was really, really hoping we would have landed Gallant when he got kicked out of Fla. Not sure of long-term success with his coaching style, but he seems to have a big dose of Ted nolan's go-get-em mentality but with grasp of analytics (and x and o)s.

Housley seems to be similar to Disco in that the system is everything and if there is failure then it is because the players drifted away from said system, rather than the system being not suited to the personnel. At least what Housley's system wants to be is way better to watch than DD's was.

Now way. This team just has no talent. From what I hear Reinhart is way closer to being a problem.

Eichel needs to play on a real team with purpose and he will come alive. This team is just a lame duck.

Feb 1st vs the Panthers I will be in attendance.

I will be commanding our forces from seat 3, row 8, section 112. If they shoot and there is a save, I will yell, "You need to pass, puck hog!" and if they pass and there is a save, I will yell, "You need to shoooooooot!". If there's a goal, I'll know they listened.

I will make sure to get up and wave to all of you when the puck is in my corner. You all better wave back!

We're last in scoring in the league, again. Any middle of the road guy like Lehner is fine for now.

Goaltending is not the problem right now. Lehner is an adequate starter. Top notch would be nice, but we'd still be last or close to it.

Oh, for sure. Pittsburgh and Chicago have seen a ton of success because they were able to draft high-prized talent over a few years time. But they had to make those players "work" for their organization as well. They had to come up with the right system and execute it.

I think a lot of people (not saying you) thought that Eichel was just going to come in here and single handedly fix it all regardless of coaching. When that didn't happen, we blamed Bylsma. Now we're blaming the players.

Basically, we need to pick something and stick with it or else we're going to be stuck in limbo forever and ever.

Oh yes, all of that. Can't wait.

"Drop it", "Set it up", "Shoot it" and "Hit em"

Couple of those, few shooters and I'll be ready for Pearl Street.

Shea Theodore had 4 points last night

He went to Vegas to protect Manson and Vatanen.

Vatanen was then traded for Henrique.

They gave up Shea Theodore, who’s undoubtedly going to be better than Vatanen, to get a 3rd line center.

My god GM’s are stupid

- sbroads24

Does Shea Theodore get the minutes to produce like that in Anaheim, though? I am not saying that it was the greatest move, but the NHL made these expansion rules the way they did in order to make Vegas competitive. And it's working out just that way so far.

So this begs the question... How does an expansion team get so much more talent than a "supposedly" established team?
- rapperray

When the league set the parameters for the expansion team that basically is picking 30 players, one from each team that comes from the bottom 50% of each NHL teams' roster, you're going to grab some nice players and put together a team better than those teams that are rebuilding.

100% of goals not scored results from someone in section 118 abdicating their responsibility to tell players to either set it up, skate or shoooooot.

That's just facts

Better than some rebuilding teams is one thing. An expansion team that is leading its division at Christmas time is another.

You know my point has been that the Sabres have been at this rebuilding for like 9 years. At what point in time do they actually get it right and start to at least compete?
