So WTF can this team do to turn it around . I suggested shooting and passing drills .
With a better goalie than we have . Seems Lehner might make them all look like snipers.and they seem to be happy with it
trade deadline getting a player and shipping 2-3 out isn't gonna fix this team.
Any realistic ideas all you couch GM's hockey specialists out there ? - cabin
This could be part of the problem? I realize the sabres have given up a lot of empty netters, but.....

Empty netters have killed that stat in the past too. Sabres have been a low scoring team for a long time . Maybe they need to emphasis on scoring ? seeing that is what wins the game . team with the most goals wins . At least thats what I was taught. It sounds simple, but they need to score.
With the 29 position swing from 1st to 30th in pp, this has to be coaching. Or lack of

their passing has gotten a lot better this year...
but any player that winds up to take a slapshot should have his peepee slapped...far too many times they've had a shot deflected, blocked or saved while attempting a slapshot
don't forget the minuses for 8 short handed goals allowed
still cant believe this team has only netted 5 on the plus in the pp department this year
then again it doesn't matter much - homiedclown
That's a good point, seams like we have had a few 2 empty goal games too. All of those guys are out there when we want scoring. Still looks ugly on paper

their passing has gotten a lot better this year...

Taking a shot just to take a shot will result in what you typed . Other players calculate the shot . Not just throw it on net and hope . when was the last time we had a sniper that could pick spots open ?
That's what pisses me off about this team. Draft players that made it to the NHL scoring goals and they get here and condemned cause they are not a backup defenseman.

Im sure when you get shut out 3 games in a row, the coaches say " shoot the puck " from everywhere.

And after how many games that it isn't working ? why stay with it ? Team plays 1 good game as a team and then 4 like a high school team . Hell , use the Vegas team as a goal for this team to reach. The have different excuses. Maybe the Sabres can learn from it . I'm sure it embarrasses them .
