I think he has had a good year. Once he learns to control his game it will be fun. I don't see him as a power forward though. Gadjovich would fill that role more IMO - VANTEL
He's right in the middle of that power forward phase. He has a lot of strengths that he's finally playing to. He's the fastest player on the team and we're starting to see it pay off. It would be nice if he started going a little harder to the net and making some plays too, I don't know why but for some reason he's stopped hitting (maybe Green)?
His minutes are finally increasing and he's been good in his own end, even rushing back to make some great defensive break ups. I'd love to see him on the PK - hopefully if they ever realize that Gaunce belongs in Kalamazoo.
I hope later this year and next, Jake will be playing with better linemates and really breakout. |

If Tryamkin, McCann, Ehlers and Forsling were here, people would be a lot more excited than they are now with just Boeser. They could see a plan, a vision, a path forward in what's is fast becoming a young man's game. - LeftCoaster
Tryamkin was a kick in the nuts.
I don't care about McCann or Forsling
Ehlers was never ours. |

Ha...It's not that simplistic boss. At least in my opinion. They are 5th overall in the league despite Matthews concussion issues and both Nylander and Marner having the sophomore slump, Canucks are 5th last.
If they added Tavares and Karlsson to their current group, even if it costs them Marner and Gardiner, they have a good team. |

I agree, just think how excited this club would be if they drafted Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Selanie and didn’t trade Neely, Bure, Linden |

EK says Leafs in on Tavares and Karlsson, that would be bad for the rest of the league - LeftCoaster
The Leafs will fall short on cap space for moves like that I think. You have to think that stupid Marleau contract may get in the way of giant additions like that. Like the Islanders and the Sens would make sacrifices to cap fit players like that to a rival and take on a bunch of contracts that don't complicate things dramatically for the Leafs. Leafs prospects and drafting position will not very appetizing either.

They had a ten year head start. They can't afford all of those players

that line of thinking is ridiculous, I hate the Leafs as much as anyone but Matthews is a great great young player, the kid scored 40 goals as a rookie last year and he now has 28 points in 27 games.
Collectively all three of Matthews, Nylander and Marner have 79 points between them, that's still pretty damn good. |

As I said, his drafting hasn't been terrible, it's been ok, he's hit on most drafts. But again if you're trading those good kids away for shortcuts then in my mind that negates any good you've actually accomplished. - LeftCoaster
Why do I get the sense that you only call them "good kids" because they are not Canucks anymore? I doubt you'd be that impressed with the very same kids if they were still Canucks. |

They would definitely have to trade two of their good young players to make that work, and yes, that Marleau contract would get in the way. |

yes I know...I just wish we had the depth to surround him like they do. I think it's coming though, just gotta wait a few more years. |

Like I just said, they'd have to want to play there, first, and secondly the Leafs would surely have to move out salary to make that happen.
I'd like to see them both land in Vancouver because yes, we'd have a pretty good team with them as well.....any team would. |

I know right. Blind envy. It's like the comment Lefty has said a number of times. "At least the Leafs don't trade away their picks like the Canucks". He said that after the Leafs traded a 1st and two 2nds in a one year span. One of the additions was a rental 4rth liner for a 2nd.
At least the Canuck's don't trade away their higher picks anymore like the Leafs do. That would be more accurate.

Ya that's why I just said we'll have some depth in the near future (hopefully) that they currently have. Tavares and Horvat down the middle with some good wingers like Boeser and even start Pettersson on the wing would be a very good young team!! |
