I don't think there's anyone within 50 miles (Or approximately 67 km for our Canadian fans) who is willing to defend reinhart

When did this change? At the beginning of the year quite a few people on this board wanted to disagree with my negative opinion of him.

Lot's of :
He scored 40 plus points in both seasons
I'm not giving up on him yet
Some guys just don't show emotion - ladanian Tomlinson didn't
He the best net front presence since Thomas vanek
He didn't pick himself second
Every gm would have picked him 2nd

This sound familiar?

That's the thing though. We didn't need them *today* or last year. We need them when the reast of the team is ready.

Matthew Barzal was picked 16th, has 35 points in 38 career games. He's a jackpot already

Brock Boeser has 24 goals in his first 43 NHL games. He's a jackpot already

Kyle Connor looks like he's a jackpot already, picked 17th.

Hell, Brendan Guhle looks like he could be a jackpot for being picked in the 50's.

Would you trade Brendan Guhle for Lehner right now?

It would be different if we were on the cusp, and needed a goalie to put us over the top.

We hit the jackpot, bought the house, and all we need is a reliable car to make it to work. Enter the Civic.

Sure, but you also have Strome, Zacha, Meier, Crouse, Gurianov, Senyshyn all in the top 15 that have done precisely Richard.

And then if we continue we have Svechnikov, Eriksson Ek, White, Roslovic, and Merkley. (I'm leaving out the Dmen and goalie).

Konecny might be a "mainstay", but he's only got 15 goals in 106 games. Reinhart was way better than that.

And we didn't need them to yet.

There will be more jackpot's, and more who continue to do percisely Richard

You can count me in on the narrative of the first 2 on your list.
I was willing to give him a chance to see what he had at C, based largely on his WJ performance...seeing him as a potential ROR clone.
I wanted to see him through December at that position to give him adequate time.

However, having seen his complete lack of production away from Jack, coupled with reports of him taking his foot of the gas as far as his development goes just soured me on him to the point I do want him out of here. Precisely the type of player this team should ship out.
Just hope they can get his production up so they get some sort of value from his departure.

Every gm would have picked him 2nd Maybe, maybe not, but it certainly wouldn't have been Draisaitl http://www.mynhldraft.com...-draft-prospect-rankings/ how many times do you see Draisaitl ahead of Reinhart on here? Once out of 13 rankers. Reinhart ahead of Draisaitl here too... http://bleacherreport.com...ects-after-the-2014-draft And here http://www.espn.com/nhl/i...-prospects-2014-nhl-draft
