I agree. Why rush him? Next year is shaping up to be another rebuilding year. Botts needs to dig us out from some of these albatross contracts to free up cap space. As well, we need to properly develop these kids vs rush them. If we can get a top 3 pick this year and top 5 next year, we should be in a good shape to compete in 2 years. - SabreWest
Rushing got us no place fast, no need to rush this kid. Get rid of bad players and contracts if we can, get players in here that fit the system that Housley wants to run
( what ever that is) and go from there. We aren't a playoff team next year so no need to rush him just to garb and extra few points. |

Why did they "rush" eichel?
He was ready, had nothing to prove or learn in the ahl or by going back to college.
Same for casey
Is nj rushing hischer?
Is phili rushing nolan?
Casey is right there, if not more skilled
He's already 19. Turned in november.

I think the point is that Casey wouldn't be needed if the team isn't ready to win, which it appears that they are not going to be.
Why not let him dominate another level, get comfortable at the pro game, and then move up when the team is taking the next step. |

I'm fine with Casey playing here next year or in Rochester, if he ready and earns a spot on the big club fine if not and he need to spend time in Rochester, I'm fine with that, it will all play out soon enough.
Either way it looks like he is a keeper.... very impressed with his stop and start skating.... He's fast.... Still makes some turnovers which is expected I guess at this age. |

pommer does not fit that and we will not be good next year
my guess was they got pommer hoping they might be decent this year - homiedclown
This season didn't catch jbotts by suprise.
This was a tank year
Pommer was a buy out waiting to happen

You're missing the point, regardless if Eichel was ready, this team was on the " rise "and the face was going to play, different situation now and the kid doesn't need to be here. The team is on the downfall again and until he's 100% ready and the team is trending in the right direction, there is no need for him to be here yet. |

Eichel's situation was different, when he came into the league this team was supposed to be on the rise, things are different yet again. Let him play a year or half a year in the AHL to work on his pro game even more. - SABRES 89
There is no way he is signing a contract to play in the AHL it's either the Sabres or he goes back to college
