Justin say if the hawks are out of it by the tdl and become sellers what trades can they make and who would go would the hawks entertain trading crow and kieth. What would the hawks be looking for specificly? - Scott1977
Crawford contract terms allow him to give a list of eight teams he does not want to be traded to. Something like that .....The board will know for sure. With the inexperienced defensemen here and maybe another one or two inexperienced dmen get a look in the next 1-2 years, moving your last line of defense- strong fortress is Craw - probably not happening. Presently the only descent back up is Forsberg. I do not expect Forsberg is going to suddenly emerge.
They like the kid at Rockford whom they signed after a good summer camp. But he cannot be close as goalies need usually at least a couple seasons with lot of starts. And he splits time in net.The recall, Glass, is a journeyman at best.
It is sort of alarming how Craw is out again. I don't know if after his concert going he is out of sorts - is it really a valid point. Seems his injury is hockey related this time. Need Crawford to make playoffs. |

Someone on reddit said Seabrook crashed into Crawford during the Devils game and that it didn't look good. I wasn't able to watch that one. Did anyone else see this and think it could have been the cause? Could explain why Q didn't want to say how they think it happened. |

I noticed that but after reviewing the game, it was 5 mins in and he slide into his pad. There was nothing to do with his upper body.
Crawford injury remains a mystery for now. |

Trading Crawford is the last thing I would do with this team right now.
He's such a student of the game and such an amazing teacher, my hope is by the time the Summer of 2020 comes around when his contract expires, Crawford at 34-years old signs a reasonable 2-year extension to continue to train his protege (it may be Forsberg, it could be someone else).

Absolutely, I’ll be there with my two youngest sons and it’s their first NHL game. I’ve taken them to see plenty of BCHL games, now they’re old enough for NHL games.
I’m usually looking for the bright side of things, so I’m looking forward to seeing Forsberg and Kampf play tomorrow, it could make for an interesting game. - DarthKane
Amazing. Don't let those bandwagoner Canucks' fans get in your grill.
The last CHI/VAN game I went to in BC was in 2010 and it was a terrible/hilarious experience.
The fans were ruthless even when the Hawks were up by 6 goals (the Hawks ended up winning 7-1) so it was an "interesting" game.
They were probably just mad because Fernando Pisani scored 2 goals in that game.

This is a super informative article for positioning breakdowns and why guys like Keith and Seabs are still very valuable to this team to coaches versus why fans may not be the best judges of what happened on plays. It is subscription based. - JRoenick97
Terrific article and pictorials and thanks for posting (and I noticed you got little response to it). Fans are virtually never the best judges; most watch from their Lazy Boy chairs and get emotionally charged over a goal against their team, usually blaming the defenceman left closest to the goaltender. |

Sign of the times.
As Sedin sisters are nearing the end of a career, Brock Boeser is emerging. He is on the fast track scoring goals.
He has 20 in roughly half season. May finish with 40 + if he remains healthy. Is Boeser a 50 goal scorer even on weak Canucks team . Here's an interesting call: whom is first to get 50 next year: Ovechkin, Tavares, Mathews, Kucherov, Laine, Boeser, or dark horse Tarasenko, Kane. McDavid could too. Stamkos could but guessing no.
Late add on comment: Kane, first to 300 goals from his draft year, could be last in goals among those aforementioned. Crosby, Malkin too much beaten up to count on playing 70 plus games. Should MacKinnon be added to the list. Could Johanson on Nashville have a break out season. Sure, but don't expect it. Panarin: no. But he has ability to do so. |

One player not on a potential 50 goal year list is Skinner on Carolina. With emergence of J Staal, Aho, TT line what holds Skinner back from scoring on another line. Answer is Rask and others are not good enough. |

We have 5 games to play by next Friday. Scary, because this could be our season. Can we win any of the 3 in our Western Canada swing without CC? Edmonton and Calgary will be tough and the Canucks still get up for games against us.
Then we wrap up against the Rangers (still on the road) and the Golden Knights (who are beating everyone) at home.
If we come up empty handed, where we end up in the standings will not be pretty. Sure, we are 2 points out of a wildcard spot. But we are also 5-6 points out of a lottery pick spot too. If we produce nothing in the next 5 games, we may find ourselves in the lower echelon of the league. |

Lottery picks aren't horrible though. Sure the year will have been a waste, but a long offseason of rest, and maybe a top overall pick? Doesn't sound too horrible. Plus sell some more assets and get the rebuild started. |

Justin happy holidays and best of luck to you and your wife with the new baby.
Looking at the center problem its easy to see why the Hawks are where they are.
"sounds like a role that Philip Danault would have fit into perfectly..."
In one of the Caretaker's worst moves he gave away Danault for hot garbage when he had already acquired Ladd. Had Bowman actually gotten the Dman he needed in that trade that would have been a different story. Couple that with overpaying Kruger and then having to move him and presto - is there any surprise the Hawks are where they are in regard to their center depth?
I saw one rumor floating that the Hawks were interested in Plekanec. Of course that's a 6mil cap hit and who do you move back to the Habs. If its AA then all you've done is swap out depth. The rumor had Seabrook going the other way...good luck with that.

As far as the season - have to disagree with the turned the corner moment - they beat three of the worst teams in the league and then beat the Jets at home - who had won something like 11 straight there - so they were due for a loss. The Hawks then beat Minni at home who's slumping like they are. In their next 2 they were outscored 8-1.
This is a .500 team and the GM's contracts/moves have put this team where it is. But let's enjoy the Richard Panik era while we can...I'm sure some team can't wait to take him off our hands at the TDL.
It'll be interesting to see how the next handful of games go with CC out.

Kampf coming up is a good thing. I really think he is better than Kero, Hino or Hartman. Competition will be good for them all. However, a very diminshed Captain Float is still the boat anchor around the whole center issue. If he can’t bring his old game most nights anything else will matter very little.
As for CC - is it a shock to anyone at all? 30-40 shots against night in and night out, with 10-15 A+ chances to fight off, and being asked to start 80+% of all games to date.... Prescription for IR. I bet it is his right groin.
This team likely misses the playoffs this year. - Return of the Roar

This team will have trouble winning games as long as the defensemen turn over the puck as often as they do and all too often are not willing to engage, physically, for control of the puck. The dmen have to become better in those areas of compete. Adding players from trade or AHL will not matter off The defense is not better.
The other big plus...huge...if Kane was driven, obsessed
And led this team. But he nowadays is not so intense and

Yep, wanted to throw that Danault jab in there. He would be the ideal guy right now.
In regards to Plekanec, I just don't see how that works for the Hawks.
He will be one to MB's biggest trade deadline chips, so he will be looking to haul in as much as possible. I can't see Bowman parting with picks, prospects and a roster player (to make the $'s work).
I definitely can't see Seabrook going the other way.
