Ristolainen just isn’t a good hockey player. This is a defensemen who doesn’t play any defense. And isn’t putting up any 5 on 5 offensive production.

Nearly everyone on this team save literally 2 maybe 3 are playing at least 1 level higher than their talent justifies. You can put Risto in that group.
The issue is the significant challenge in terms of cost in acquiring both a 1 & 2 to enable him to flourish in a 3 role.

I cant read this fancy poop for poop but it looks like this is only 8 games (sample size), and that while he didn't necessarily stop the carry ins he was responsible for getting the puck back out of the zone 76% of the time it was brought in.

My math yesterday said his offensive production is about 0.05 ppg less than last years.

So, I am not inclined to hit panic. I have a feeling its a "whipping boy" issue.
