Soft goal by the USA tendy early - EnzoD
That it was. I looked like he lost his positioning on a simple play. Maybe even got a snowflake in his eye. |

So far as predicted just about every trade for this season has been a disaster. Crawford is hurt and that finishes any chance we had. Meanwhile Panerin is leading his team in scoring. And on and on and on. Bowman who deserves paychecks from St Louis for trading Chicago into nearly last place should not last 10 more games. - Savoy
Except Murphy is looking good. Saad is lost right now. The whole team seems to be. Having Panarin wouldn't help what's happening right now, he'd just be lost in the struggle. Also, Kane is still putting up points without Panarin, like he always has. |

Why would Team USA wear Jerseys mirroring one of the most consistently bad football teams in the NFL? I blame the Jerseys |

And say several hundred Hail Mary's...This team is the joke of the NHL right now with the lack of effort that is evident in their play. |

My guts tells me:
Saad-Toews-Panik
Debrincat-Schmaltz-Kane
Sharp-Kampf-Hartman
BANGER line
But... the fun part of my brain wants Q to go:
Hinostroza-Toews-Hartman
Panik-Schmaltz-Kane
Saad-Kampf-Debrincat
BANGER line
Q speaks at 7pm CT to the media... so guess we'll find out during warmups. |

If Toews' back really is the problem and he can't train like he used to maybe it is time to change up his routine and/or off ice strength coach?
I know JJ Watt has had numerous elbow and back injuries and he completely changed his off season lifting regiment without sacrificing overall strength.
Did Toews lose weight this summer to get quicker or did he lose weight to try and coop with a bad back or whatever is ailing? The thing that stands out about his play this year is his lack of strength on his skates. Even when he tries to stop quickly and stick handle he seems off balance i.e. poor core and leg strength.
Being unable to train b/c of a bad back usually results in a loss of leg and core strength. If his back prohibits him from doing Olympic lifting, squats, dead lift variations etc. that could explain this years weak play.
But it does not explain last years play which he blamed on being too muscle bound and heavy. Becoming muscle bound is really really hard to accomplish with a bad back.
I think something is ailing him. Not sure what it is but he has spent the last two off-seasons trying to figure out a way to coup with it through training. He went from being to muscle bound to being slimmed down and visibly weaker. If you are changing up your off-season regiment that much in a two year span something is wrong physically... just my non-expert opinion.
I prefer last years muscle bound version to this years light weight version. |

And my brain (numbed with cold) wants:
Saad - Toews - Hartman/Panik (I’d go with the top-line Hartman once more)
Schmaltz - Kampf - Kane (I like Chicken Fat On Kane’s other wing)
DeBrincat - Hino - Panik (but tell AdB to stop with the long wind-up snappers and go back to the extremely quick releasing and accurate wristers)

Powers:
Source says a definitive timetable for Artem Anisimov’s injury has yet to be set, could be another 48 hours before they know for sure the extent of it. Was told the upper-body injury didn’t occur on a specific play. |

Saw that. I shot Scott a note and said he must need to see a specislist of some sort because that timing is weird.
I'm hoping it's nothing weird like a vascular issue.

I’d split up Toews and Saad, I don’t see the point I’m keeping two struggling players together.
I know this is a stretch but I’d like to see Hayden get a shot at 2C between Schmaltz and Kane. Nobody has worked harder than Hayden so it would be a nice reward. Plus it could be a low risk experiment that pays dividends.
I’d also keep Hartman with Toews and maybe with DeBrincat. |

Much as I love Hayds and believe he should get a better look in the top 6, I don't think he's a center at this level. Why wouldn't you just move him to LW w/ Schmaltz centering (as pathetic as his faceoff numbers are) he and Kane. Do you choose Hayden over Schmaltz for faceoff reasons? Or some other reason? I am not aware of Hayden's faceoff capabilities. |

That could work too, I’m just not a fan of Schmaltz at centre. Hayden can’t be any worse on face offs than Schmaltz. But I thought Hayden could play the “big body in front of the net” role which would work well with Kane and Schmaltz’s skill. |
