thats how you do it...(frank) yeah...

a rare regulation backup goalie win and holding the other guys to under 3

Yea a fun game to watch despite some frustrations. The team looked good, and all 4 lines were effective. D-men are rounding into shape. Glass doing a good job in net. Line 1 starting to show signs.

the beginning (jets) and the end (rangers) of this 6 game road trip were 2 of the best hawks team game of the year. the middle games had their problems...

now they get 8 of the next 9 at home with an off week in the middle; they need to take adv and put a run together...not sure what the timing of craws or arties return...hope soon

Am I the only one that has an issue with players like Kempny getting benched for boneheaded mistakes, only to see Keith make the same boneheaded plays - and get rewarded with first unit power play time???

- dahawks8819

You are not alone.
Question: if Kempny played each game, would his bone head plays be much less. Answer: less, indeed...how much less. On par with Keith whose mistakes are ubiquitous each team in the league. Play Kempny for a while to get a better idea about him. Maybe, maybe it may increase his trade value. I know he has a powerful shot, but how about his hands. Can he stand in front of net on pp?

Who will join me to toast a Glass for superior play. Hear ye, hear ye. Except that puck over the glass by GLASS.

I'm sure you've heard the term million $ legs and a 2 cent brain; that just might be what the coaching staff thinks of Kempny after watching him for 2 years. When the other 7 Dmen are healthy, he is firmly lodged in the #8 spot. And right now they need to win hockey games, not showcase him for a possible trade.

Keith definitely makes his share of mistakes like every defenceman who ever played the game, including Orr, Potvin, Robinson, Doug Harvey etc. Kempny is not even remotely comparable to 'on par' with anything Duncan Keith does on the ice.

Plus when Keith, or any othe quality vet, makes a mistake, you have a history that says he’ll make the right play next time. Sitting him, making him watch, won’t help him learn anything - his career says he knows and will correct his play next time.

You don’t have that with Kempny or other young player - they do need to be taught.

I am having a real hard time believing PK Slewfoot received more votes than Kaner for the All-Star Joke Fest. Frankly, seeing 4 small market players lead the voting is shocking all on its own.

Huge win.

Bold statement coming: Hawks turn season around and Glass is the catalyst for it.

There's no doubt in my mind that the decision to put Glass in over Forsberg was a calculated move with a specific goal of waking up the Hawks emotional game.

You put the feel-good story guy (who can play, too) in the blue paint and the play of the guys around him instantly goes up because now they're playing for something more--they want Glass to succeed and they'll put in the extra effort and do what they can to help him. It strengthens the whole team.

Best move by Hawks brass this year in my opinion.

How disappointing that a player [Kempny] was scouted and had a track record asa pro having played in eiro tournaments, i think the Olympics too. This is a moot point, however, given coaching staff lack of trust>he could still have value as netftont presence. No. Just move him is the final verdict.

I've thought that he could provide that roll for some time, kind of like the smalish, fast young guys that helped Pittsburgh win back to back cups.

Just find it a little odd that they can look so good one game, and so bad the next. I know we all bash the core for this, but i wonder if all the youngsters don't contribute a great deal to the inconsistency.

That said, the new guys all looking better. Vinny probably helps from the outset, but that time being the man in Rockford helped I think. Same with Kampf getting used to NA ice. I think he's a 4th center, not a 3rd, but it will be interesting when AA returns to see how Q slots it.

By the time the playoffs roll around, lots of guys to play on the bottom 6, plus they'll probably bring Sikura in, and wouldn't be surprised to see Highmore up as well after AHL season.

They play every game like last night, playoffs won't be a problem.

AA nets some great greasy goals but slows the overall club down.

very true...but his offensive game and shot/pass decisions has gone south this year...
you would think a bounce or deflection off a defender would have found the net by now...no goals at the half way point..

Kampf playing 4C would mean Q would have to get real close to benching Bouma, which probly wont happen. i don't hate the idea though.
