Kampf playing 4C would mean Q would have to get real close to benching Bouma, which probly wont happen. i don't hate the idea though.

I like big Lance.

My favorite Hawk of the past couple seasons is still Hayden. He keeps getting better and better. Works hard, uses the body, has some hands, etc., etc...

He's just not sound enough defensively to make up for his lack of offence (bouma). I know he embraces his role, but the team as a whole could be better with him pushed to the pressbox.

Some players on the team, namely Toews, Saad, Keith and Seabrook, have received some significant criticism (rightfully so) this season. Rather than trading one or all of these guys I would rather see them consistently play like they did last night. I think that's a realistic expectation, who know if it will happen.

Hayden has been a solid team guy and one of the hardest workers (if not the hardest worker) on the team. Hayden has also been solid on the PK. Hayden hasn't produced offensively, but he hasn't been given that role and his line mates are defensive first type of forwards.

Once AA returns (and assuming nobody else gets hurt) I would like to see Hayden stick in the lineup, both for his long-term development and the team's short term needs. I would think Wingels stays in the lineup too, he's made solid contributions. I would say Panik continues to sit, as well as either Sharp or Bouma. Hopefully Q doesn't get the idea to sit Vinnie, he's looked good with Toews and Saad.

The roster is currently at 25 with 2 guys on the IR. Once Crawford and AA return the team will have some tough decisions to make. Glass has been a real nice story but I would send him back to Rockford once #50 is healthy. Maybe it's time for Stan to trade Kempny too (albeit probably not for much).

Nice to see a regulation win tonight, all we have to do is play an eastern conference team. Speaking of the east, 6 of the next 10 opponents.

Nice to see Vinny in front of the net.

Agreed this team is anything but consistent

Forsling turning back into a pumpkin, turnover to Vesey, yikes

Glass bailed this team out several times last night, plays much calmer than Forsberg

We've all seen that they can do it, but its the consistency that's been the issue. If they can rattle off more than a 5 game flash of great play, then i think faith can be restored.

If they play the way they played last night and lose, i know people would still be upset at the loss, but i think they'd be given more of a pass because their compete level was intense last night. That's what has been missing.

NYR is also kind of bad. Especially, if you take into account their shot shares. If the metro wasn't a mess right now, they probably wouldn't be in the playoffs.

I'll agree that Glass plays more calm. But he overplays, leaves rebounds, and gets a lot of posts. If half of the post shots had gone in all here would say he sucks. But I do love the storyline of his career and wish him a lot of luck.

I'm sure you've heard the term million $ legs and a 2 cent brain; that just might be what the coaching staff thinks of Kempny after watching him for 2 years. When the other 7 Dmen are healthy, he is firmly lodged in the #8 spot. And right now they need to win hockey games, not showcase him for a possible trade.

Keith definitely makes his share of mistakes like every defenceman who ever played the game, including Orr, Potvin, Robinson, Doug Harvey etc. Kempny is not even remotely comparable to 'on par' with anything Duncan Keith does on the ice.

- RickJ

Thank you. Yes, Keith makes mistakes. Every player does. Keith has the motor and skill to make up for them. Kempny gets lost in the neutral zone far too often and gives up on plays when he's tired.

I still think it makes more sense to keep Forsberg once Crawford returns.

Having never played hockey, I have a question...how do you get in the shooting lane to block a shot, and not screen the goalie?
- tvetter

I see nobody answered this. I play defense so I'll try to help. When you block a shot, you want to be as far away from the goalie and close to the shooter as possible. this allows for the goalie to get a bearing on the puck if you miss it. the closer you are ot him, the less reaction time he has. So your best bet is to glide toward the shooter when he starts to shoot, and for gods sake, don't lift up one foot. That's a killer. I'f you're right in front of the net and a guy at the point is winding up, get out of the way and let the goalie make the save.

I'm torn. I could see more playing time in the AHL benefiting Forsberg more than Glass. Glass is 32 and has seen pro hockey a lot. Could be a more consistent backup.

Forsberg would have to pass through waivers, I don't see the club taking that risk. I don't think Forsberg needs more AHL team, he needs more NHL time. He's done what he can at the AHL level, there's nothing left to prove at that league. I still think Forsberg has played better than Glass, the team in front of them has just played better with Glass.

Pittsburgh, Montreal and Florida could all realistically make a claim on Forsberg if he went through waivers.

Pittsburgh would have no interest in Forsberg. They have 2 tremendous young goalie prospects behind Murray, one already in the NHL. Forsberg would absolutely get claimed though, that I am sure of. No chance Hawks leave him exposed.

How about trading Forsberg to one of those teams? That's what they should do and get a third line center in return.

I think the Hawks are all in on Forsberg being the guy after Crow.

I tend to agree, although either one could be grabbed off waivers. The probability of a team claiming Forsberg is much higher than Glass.

The more interesting decision is what they do when AA is ready to come off IR.

Really good team game last night, led by the Captain for once. When this team plays a game whem all four lines can roll and be effective it makes such a difference.

Really like Kampf.

Really like whem 19 plays his down low game.

Its all about consistency now. Can we see the same 19 two games in a row, then three and so on? This is the only way they can make a run.

Right now I'd be against messing with 38/8/88....

AA to Line 3 Center? Kampf to L4-C, Wingels to wing? Bouma becomes 13th forward?

Or package a player or two for a bigger upgrade at Center.
