simple you need to drink this off...

they are in cage match with 7 points separating 7 teams...3 pt games vs WC teams ain't going to get it done...they are 1-3-1 on this trip giving up to many shots again and 20 goals in these 5 games....

The Hawks don't look like a playoff team despite good Corsi numbers. If you throw-out the 10-1 blowout of the Penguins, the Hawks have a negative goal differential. The Hawks are competitive against the bottom half of the league, but they've beaten only two of the league's top 10 teams. Maybe Keith reverts back to form, but what you see with Forsling, Oesterle, Kempney, and Rutta is what you'll likely get for the remainder of the season. But I remain optimistic. If the Hawks can simply fix their power play and convert somewhere between 18%-20% of their chances, they'll be in contention for a playoff spot.

Nice to see Toews and Saad get in the scorers column.
Q loves him some Oesterle, he was second on the team in TOI.
I'm ready for Forsling and Rutta to be back and see Kempny and Fanson scratched.
A trade would be nice too, even if just to see what the front office is thinking about the club right now.

Jfc, can you guys give it a rest.....now you're diagnosing 19 with Bo Jackson disease????....I'm embarrassed for all you making diagnosis based upon your own personal ailments.
Maybe he donated a kidney? Takes a long time to recover, especially if he did it overseas, cause you a know they do it in bathtubs in ice over there.
SAD!!!!!

Really did not expect the single point after watching them go down by three. It was satisfying to watch them come back and turn the third into an exciting period.

Will defend anyone’s right to speculate about what’s going on with Toews as long as we keep getting charged full price for tickets and concessions for what appears to be a diminished product.

Tonight’s performance made me at least give up my recent thought that he had been a heart donor instead of a kidney donor.

8-10-3 vs WC teams: in 12 of those have not even had a lead during regulation...

of those 8 wins 6 in regulation vs AZ 2x, Min 2x, ANA, Jets..count me very unimpressed..1 damn win in regulation vs a top team in their conf

i suppose if craw comes back and puts up >.930 and < 2 GA the rest of the season they got a chance of winning a game or 2 in round 1

both glass and smith were outstanding in the first half of the game...

flames have the puck behind the their own net with 9 secs left and score on a rebound with 1 sec left and seabs and keith on the ice...

toews and saad played much better, but not enough for them to show up every 5-6 games...

Richard panik is back to being the Richard panik we though he was...the guy biffs a wide open cage from 6 inches away...

hawks ALLOW their first two nhl game goalie to face over 80 shots with several high quality to go 1-1 in OT vs teams behind them... another

Happy New Year all - loved your comment Bogie. Panik - the gift that keeps on sucking. 2.8m in cap space wasted when you could have one of the kids up here playing. Panik choked again last night with a wide open night right in front of him.

And kudos to 19 his tenth goal of the year so that's just over 1m per goal if you're scoring at home.

Meantime the Bears have fired Fox - yet Ryan Pace who assembled that dumpster fire of a roster remains. You know the guy that thought giving Mike Glennon 18m was a good idea and that's just for starters. Bowman thought David Rundblad was the answer at 4D after winning the cup in 15 and we saw how that turned out.

Q is a proven winner if he's got the horses, but he's not controlling the roster. That would be Stan. A lot of folks have called for Q to be jettisoned based on a bad PP, shelf life and now the rumor that he may have lost the room. Certainly very valid points. Both the Kings and Pens have had a resurgence after changing coaches which folks have pointed out, but they also changed GMs.

Bowman's track record the last several TDLs and offseasons speaks for itself including the Leddy and Sharp fiascos. Or the Danault trade. Or Timmonen. Or those top heavy deals...the list goes on. So while it may be time for a fresh set of eyes from the bench - its certainly time to look for another set from the GM suite.

while this does have force...upper management is as committed to Q and stanbow (esp with bowman sr there) as they are to the aging expensive "core"...it won't happen anytime soon...

but does it looks like the hawks are following the kings track: 2 1st round outs and a playoff miss...

If no one is spilling the beans now about Toews health condition, then it will remain this way at least through the season. My wish for the new year is a return to better health for Toews. I don't expect Seabrook to be much different for maybe one or two seasons.

Here is a thought: hold on to DeBrincat and Schmaultz and pray that both Sikura and a #1 draft choice power forward or center make the line up. I am already figuring Kampf replaces AA in a salary cap move. The savings + salary cap increase allows Bowman some wiggle room in contracts and or another (at this time significant trade). Like the Saad trade.

Newbie forward from the draft might not make the team immediately. But an AHL forward could..... and this likely boosts scoring and push some forwards to play harder all the time to keep their spot in the lineup. Might as well take even a late round choice for Panic. There is always a kid or extra forward who will work hard to stay in the lineup.

Perhaps then either DeBrincat or Schmaultz could go for whatever our biggest weakness is. Really want to see a Sikura and or draft choice come in and influence where team scoring improves. That could result in a "more proven" DeBrincat and Schmaultz. Either one should be able to land us a descent center who wins face offs. It is worth looking into.

Draft and trade = power forward + a center
Prosoects: a few more to determine their development. How close in Jokiharju and Carlsson/Tuolola/Snuggerud/Dahlstrom. I like Gus but it is a numbers game. Pokka- meh.

Bowman really has but one route to take: draft well, develop. Maybe another Saad/Panarin type trade. The Blackhawks need to retool some of the core. They really need some kids here or in pipeline to step in on defense. Just maybe both Keith and Seabrook move on after one more season then the collective bargaining agreement. Much depends upon development of kids. Don't get too down on Ruuta/Forsling. One or both of them with right partner could work out. I hope sitting them out does push them to compete harder and not avoid the physical side as much as they do now.

Developing the defense, so they can be better is the key. Forsling, Ruuta, Oesterle right now are the key for dmen, but all these young forwards are learning as well. Transition year

Better defense doesn’t always mean better play out of the Dmen, sometimes it means better D out of the forwards.

I was a bit surprised to hear Dineen comment about the F3 forward getting caught to low in the offensive zone, creating odd man rushes.

With 19 and 20 getting off the schnide last night (a game I admittedly didn't see) lets see if they can heat up and get a streak going.

The Fox has left the yard thank god...I honestly suspect Pace will hire HO HUM Dennis Allen from New Orleans. Bears request interview with Carolina DC Wilks. Josh McDaniel will likely end up in New York, but given the need to get a "QB Guru" he'd be a top choice, but the Giants job is a better job than Chicago and Billichik is pimping for him pretty hard. Though I wont lose sleep either, the Billichik coaching tree has not yielding impressive results when they leave the hooded emperor.

My favorites if Jim Harbaugh is not a candidate (which I don't think he is) are Pat Shurmur and David Shaw. What Shurmur did in Minnesota with a third string QB was amazing. He actually has shown the ability to groom QBs to play good football and while his time in Cleveland was not great, I don't think Vince Lombardi could have won in that cesspool of idiocy.

They’re going to make a trade or two probably in the next couple of weeks, they know all those names that people are throwing around that they are not the long-term solution,Debrincat is a keeper, but someone of the group of schmaltz, Hino, Hartman, and maybe one of those young defenseman, it’s probably going to be used in a deal to acquire some win now help and I don’t mean garbage like the Montreal trtrade,I’m thinking they may deal with Ottawa or Buffalo

I really don’t see that, there’s no trade that can put this team in win now mode. Maybe build for the future mode though.

Who would they trade of value to obtain a player whom is going to be a big upgrade? I doubt that they move Hartman or tbeir #1 2018. Bowman knows he has to count on young players development.

Nope, just the same old "be better" and "I'm feeling better every game" quotes. Both he and Powers had the angle of: "the underlying advanced metrics for the 1st line are great, so why aren't they scoring?" No answers.

well they better do it soon...its not the point you are behind, its the number of teams the hawks are chasing and competing with and the way to frequent 3 pt games..

after the ranger game they play 8 of 9 at home with plus a week off with minimal travel...will it help?
