You have to take into consideration a few things about Montreal - and Toronto for that matter.....
1) Back in the day - when both teams were winning multiple cups, NHL players were 99% Canadian. And Canadians wanted to play for Canadian teams.
2) During those times, there was no draft. So players got to choose which team they wanted to play for. And the best of the best picked - in order - Montreal, and Toronto.
Since the first expansion, the draft was created - to give all teams a fair chance. And as the 70s wore on, and the U.S. dollar started to distance itself from the Canadian dollar, it became more lucrative to sign with an American team over a Canadian one. That trend has continued for over 30 years.
And now - with the influx of American, European and Russian players, and the discrepancy with monetary values, the Canadian teams don't look as glamorous as they once did.
Players now only care about getting paid - and they make more here than over the border. - dahawks8819
Plus
Back in the day all French Born Canadians who represented 30% of the population were automatically the property of the Montreal Canadians

Thanks guys for the kind words. - Justin Lowe
You know with 2 kids now, you and your wife are going to have to go to a man-to-man defense. No more of this zone coverage stuff anymore. |

except on round 2 when you have twins and go from 1 to 3, and then you stay in zone, play the collapse PK defense and hope to not get burned. |

There is a commonality both Anisimov and Paciorety share:
They both are out injured often. If Bergevin is worried about his job and their on ice performance, then he needs NHL players in exchange for Paciorety and maybe Galyenchuk too. - jhawk59
Not really. Patches has played a majority of the lsat 6 seasons. The real significant time he missed was when he got wrecked into the bench.

What are you "alarmed" about? Will it suck if they miss the post-season? Yeah, sure. But this group doesn't seem like its going to be able to put together a stretch of solid play, so would it be any better to see another 1st round out?
The inconsistency is the most frustrating part of this season. The play, compete level, the lines, pairings, schedule. (frank)ing everything is inconsistent. Makes it not even much fun to watch.
I say hold out hope for better tomorrow, but dont be alarmed if they miss the post season. Maybe they luck into a nice high draft pick or something.

@ByScottPowers
Forsling is back in. Kempny and Rutta will be the defenseman scratches.
@MarkLazerus
Q's rationale for breaking up Forsling and Rutta (Forsling in, Rutta still out tonight) is that he liked Franson on the power play, and wants to keep him in the lineup. |

Definitely. It's inevitable that they go with an offensive mind.
The concept of a young offensive mastermind (mimicking the Rams) isn't necessarily the right way to approach this, though. I want the best candidate, period.
I too have a hunch that DeFilippo will end up being the guy, though. - TommyHawk

Just skip eading. I know a minor annoyance and minor inconvenience. The site administrator allows Bears football post; this is whom you address your thoughts to. Through control panel. I too would prefer all hockey but in respect to many passionate hockey and Bears fans, perhaps administrator feels football is ok. Probably not each day a ton of Bears stuff, but some ok is how I guess the administrator may feel. |

Jhawk59: thanks for the sound advice; I can respect your thought and the way you articulated it.
You are 100 percent correct in that it is an annoyance and inconvenience. This board went of on a political tangent somewhere in the last couple months; that, too, was an irritant, and I say that irrespective of which political way any posters swung.
Just feel that bears — and Sox and cubs and bulls and any other sport out there — should be off here. Got to draw the line somewhere.
Thanks.
