Happy New Year everyone, & a great job here Jan, in incorporating this game's preview & scenes of Citi Field, along with their 3 past outdoor wins highlights & details. Now let's make it 4 for 4 in outdoor wins today!
The 2012 game is remembered for Hank securing that win in stopping Daniel Briere on that questionable penalty shot awarded to him in the 3rd Period's closing seconds. Mike Rupp contributed his "Jagr's" worth fair share in "multi ways" as well. But after that win, I believe as to the penalty shot call, Tortorella said, "Bettmann wanted to make the game more dramatic for NBC", (either jokingly or even possibly for real, in knowing Torts).
Today's "road" game is the first of 27 road games of 44 overall Rangers games remaining. Their current (5-7-2) road record includes only 2 Reg. Wins, 3 OT Wins, and 2 S.O. Losses, for only 12 of a potential 28 points in 14 road games, the least played by any team. Toronto has played the most road games with 24 thus far.
After a horrible 12 games start of (3-7-2) overall, despite & among their greatly improved (17-6-3) run since Oct. 31st, they are only (5-4-2) on the road, with 3 of those wins coming in OT. Last season, they were (27-12-2) road wise, as opposed to (21-16-4) at MSG, in earning 102 points, good enough for just the 1st Eastern Wild Card spot, while it required Toronto 95 points to just earn the 2nd one by 1 point.
At (15-6-3) thus far at MSG, they are at a very good pace of (26-10-5) for 57 home points. However, at (5-7-2) on the road, they would end (15-20-6) for only 36 road points, and 93 combined overall points for the season. Both the Isles & Lightning missed the Eastern playoffs at 94 points last year. So the Rangers road winning must begin at a much greater pace starting right now, for them to have any chance to reach the postseason in the improved & toughest NHL division and conference.
Happy New Years boys! Enjoy the game tomorrow. - Fenrir
Happy New Year Fenrir!
But with your post made very early at 1:43 am on New Year's Day, you meant for us all to enjoy the game today. They do not play tomorrow. But at least you have a legitimate excuse at that early hour on this day for being in a state of confusion, at which time, I hope you were at home then. By my minutes earlier post, you know that I certainly was so, but in addition most of all, not confused at all.

Columbus, Pittsburgh and the Islanders cant get out of their own way right now, Rangers have the largest goal differential in the Metro and games in hand on Washington, who they just beat.
Gonna be interesting 7 to 8 weeks until the Feb 26th trade deadline.
No goals and crazy highlights...
Just a couple mins of how this guy plays hockey.
How can he be 17 f'n years old???
I can see a mix of a young Peter Forsberg and Victor Hedman
Rangers need to win today with everyone losing. 3-0 in outdoor games so far. - mdw7413
Rangers absolutely need to win this game today and it will be so irritating if they don't
but bottom line, this division is winnable, the Rangers, as it stands will have 9.2 million in deadline cap space and that's not even counting if they put Kreider on IR.
gonna be a huge 7 weeks to see which way this team goes.

Who's even available that would be a fit? I'm fine with seeing how Letierri does for awhile. But with Kreider going down puts a little wrinkle in things instead of just concentrating on upgrading defense.
Has to be cool for Vinny. Playing with the Pack and now his 2nd game up with the big club is the outdoor nationally televised game.

the thing is, Kreider's cap hit on the IR could enable them to make a trade to upgrade the defense
but, I don't know how anyone knows the answer to the "who's available" question
hopefully we have a better answer to that by February 26th, and I still think that's waaaaaaay too early for a trade deadline, it's stupid

Took Zuke down to the beach this morning, I lasted about 20 min. I have no idea how you guys going to this game are going to last 3-4 hours not moving.
